ok, I really don't want to do this, but I remember looking frantically around for other scrap for hire sites when I was first considering doing this. So I feel I owe it to you all to share a little back.
Before I link you, just know that my hubby and I are amateurs. He has been self-taught in programming, and I am self taught in design.... what a team!?!

Row, I'm curious how many orders you have gotten so far? It seems like you could make a decent amount of money doing something you love... And I know people will pay it- Im just curious how lucrative this business is!

P.S. Row and girlflies, thanks for being first to post your sites! I felt exactly the same way about posting mine - I wonder why that is? I mean, why would we ALL feel the same nervousness about posting, do you think?

I appreciate being able to see both your sites! I've seen yours before Row, but KindredPixels was new to me. I love how we "do the same thing", but there is so much room to be different and display our own styles through our websites. Great stuff!

Kristen, your site is looking great! I would suggest not using images for your text though. I am on shaped internet and it is driving me crazy, and your pages took maybe 10 minutes each to load. Also, search engines won't find all those lovely keywords.

I love the way you wrote your about yourself and business blurb and how you tied in all those computer references - funny and clever.

Emmers - the amount of orders you get will depend on lots of things including how active you are in the places that matter, whether your layouts appeal and how much you charge for them.

Amy - my site costs me $10 a month for hosting, $60 for 2 years for the domain name. (.com.au names are more expensive). The rest was free as I took the time to learn HTML and I crafted the whole thing myself (OK, with a couple of open source programs such as the gallery).

If you paid to have a website made, they charge all sorts of things but a really lovely one could cost thousands and thousands.

sigh...I'm STILL working on mine. I think I'm the slowest in the world! First there's the fact that I have very limited knowledge of html, css and all the other site stuff, then there's the fact that I'm a picky, perfectionist, worry-wart who can never leave things well enough alone!! lol Maybe by the time I have to pay for another year of hosting I'll be finished and of course by then so sick of looking at it that I'll want to trash the whole thing and start over with a new design;)

So anyway just wanted to praise everyone's efforts! You guys make it look easy:)

I'm with Row. (And I love your site!) I continue to tweak mine. I used a template from NetObjects Fusion 7. I am not an expert by any means, but if I can find a way to save money and do it myself, I'll try it. :lol

I originally built the website as a way to let my former students and new students know about upcoming classes and events. To be honest, I haven't created a fee table, which is really nice to see in Row's site. Maybe this thread will get me in gear to do that! :spin

Those are great sites ladies! But Row...I couldn't see yours!

I have been needing to get me set up...I actually had a site a couple of years ago right before I even went digi but I had went through some personal life matters that I wasn't able to continue to pursue my business.

I still have done little jobs here & there but I've been meaning to pursue this further again. In fact, the reason I began designing was so that I could use my own kits & not worry about all the TOU's...but now it seems more designers have become S40 friendly (including myself! ;) so now is a perfect time for me re establish a site! :)

Thanks for the inspiration...I will post mine as soon as I get one done! ;)

I am currently in the process of getting my S4H biz up and running, and it's good to be able to see what everyone else is doing. Well, I have one... But, I need to do something more grand with it, lol...

Right now, it has some really old layouts that are not my favorites anymore!! Hopefully, I'll have time to change up the slideshow soon, because I want some of my newer stuff to be what's displayed there...

Hey, Char, someone gave me your site as an example of what they liked in a site (they were wanting a S4H site, too, but never got back to me). I love the cleanness of it, it's very nice visually, but you don't have a title on your home page and the others don't have a site title, only the page names. You might want to check your code. I'm not sure how it got taken out, Wordpress usually generates that for you, but for some reason, it isn't doing that for your site. Great looking site, though!

Oh! Thanks for the compliments - I can't take too much credit for the overall look - it's a theme I found and loved, and just customized the header with my business name.

Thanks for pointing out the title issue. I left the "name" blank in the settings section, since I did a custom header. I did the change-over pretty quickly a few weeks ago, and forgot to go in and fix the code so I could have a site title/name, but not have it display. Off to do that now...

It took me two months to come up with a name! ThenI couldn't get the .com address! So, I found another.

Here is mine. I am still working on it, I don't have it in the google search or anything as I am still working on it.
