I want to make a chore chart for my DD or even a check list for when she wakes up in the morning... like brush you teeth, get dressed etc. I would love to have some cute pictures to go along with it since shes still learning to read. Anyone have any ideas? THANK YOU!

Darcy had a great chore chart for sale at one point...but I don't see it at TDC. Maybe you could pm or email her and see if she still has it available. It was a template for the chart and some cute add on graphics.

I ordered dry erase magnets from Something Blue Studios (link here (http://www.somethingbluestudios.com/MagnetInfo.html)). I added a little picture to mine as well. I bought an ultra fine tip dry erase marker and this is working fantastic for my kids! They earn a marble for each chore/task they do and when they reach a certain amount they are given an
allowance. Sorry, just ignore the calendar & todo list. I photoshop'd it all together for another thing previously and didn't want to redo it.

My youngest was having trouble getting ready for school in the mornings without piddling and poking around, so I made this little chart for him. I printed it and slipped it inside a page protector, then hung it on the fridge right next to the chore charts. He can mark off each step as he goes and it wipes right off. These little gems have been a huge, huge help in my kids learning to manage their time and get work done too.

Depending on the age, you can just use icons/pictures, maybe from an online library like Microsoft office?

I just recently created chore charts for my dd's as well. I put together a simple template so that I could use the kits I have and love....and change the kit when we need something fresh. :) We used contact paper to 'laminate' them after printing so they could check off the chores with a dry erase marker (same idea as the page protector). Here's a blank version of what I created using Kay Miller's Jungle Boogie (http://kaymillerdesigns.com/shoppe/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=94):

I did this one for my son a few months ago. I put clear contact paper over the top of it and attached some magnets. He uses a dry erase marker to check the boxes. Each of the circles represents how many times he has to do a chore, one circle equals one time per week.

I SOOO lifted this pretty much exactly, and surprised my son with it, he was over the moon! (sorry about the pun :blush)
I only added some little doodles for say a toothbrush, a toilet, a coat & schoolbag, shoes, cereal... he's only just started Year 1, and is still learning to read, and while he CAN read what's on the chart, it's a bit easier for all of us in the morning if it's more of an "at a glance" thing, which, hopefully by mid-year it will be without pictures!
Had to let you know I loved it so much, I snagged it, and Kate Hadfield's doodles to complete it!!!

How do you get the chore carts to actually work? I'm really curious. I had one and it worked for a week, before she lost complete interest. I never could get her enthusiastic about it again.
I'm really liking what I see, but I just can get her to do it!! Blah!! :)

i had the same problem last year... we use a reward system with it since then, and it works well. Last year there were things he couldn't do on his own... like get dressed completely, but now that he can, I made him a new chart, which he loves, last one was just on a dry erase board...
As far as the reward system... he has a jar in the kitchen with his name on it, and as a rainy day project, we made clay beads (you could use marbles, buttons, what have you)... he uses them fill up his jar to the 3 lines I've marked on the side, and each one counts towards a reward. a (1) reward is a small thing, like a trip to the sweet shop with £2 in hand; a (2) reward is a toy shop trip with £5 and a (3) reward is usually a day out, sometimes an indoor play area, sometimes the aquarium, spaceport, zoo, etc. Days out are something we can't do too often, so when he lets it get up to that (he usually opts for the sweets or the toys!), he is very proud of himself for having achieved it. It's worked so far, but we'll see how much longer I can get him to stay on this track!

I actually made chore charts yesterday and wondered if any of these wonderful designers had thought to make a kit . :) Thanks for all the cute ideas.
My daughter is only 3 and I took pictures of her doing the chores and put those on the chart with the typed words. Every time she walked by it yesterday, she would stop and "read" her chores. For my son's (6) I didn't do pictures.
It works for my son because this is how he earns his allowance. He has to do all his chores everyday to get 1 dollar at the end of the week. He wants that money :) so he usually does it. We let it lapse over the summer and he has been begging me to make a new one since he started back to school.
My little one just wants one because her brother has one. She can earn special activities if she does her chores. She doesn't get the whole money thing yet ( thank goodness).

Thanks for your answer Lynn. I tried the reward system and it didn't work. She was happy to get the reward when she earned it, however, she was also very accepting of the fact that if she didn't do something, she wasn't going to get the reward. On the one hand, I'm really glad she understood the concept but on the other hand, it does make things difficult.

I just made some tonight! I used a freebie template (really modified though, just basically kept the boxes) from Happy Scrap Girl (http://happyscrapgirl.blogspot.com/2007/08/news-freebie.html)and then used some of my wonderful Sweet Shoppe kits and made these for my boys:

I absolutely adore this! Joshua just started Kindergarten and riding the bus this year. He is so used to having "down"time in the AM before I take him to school that it's hard for him to get the hang of a routine. Without me yelling and rushing him that is. I think this might help! Thanks so much for the idea!;)
