Whaddya charge?

I'm interested to know what you professional or paid photographers charge for portait work and what that includes. I've done some commercial work but I think the price would be different for doing personal or family portraiture. It seems to me that the hardest part of this business is coming up with a price!

April the best advice I could give you is to look at some locally businesses, and see what they charge. Some places you could charge 200 for a session, but the there are places you could only charge $50.. I would go with what your town is going for.. :)

Michelle is right. You need to check out the other photographers in your area. The prices here in central Illinois are extremely low compared to say L.A. or New York.

yup I just surfed around..seeing what the other photogs around charged...then placed myself accordingly...lower than the BIG big greay guys...and higher than the ones I felt my quality was above...

it was the hardest part!
