I was just looking at a post in chatter and the ladies included a picture of their workspacce in the body of their message. How does one do that?

Thanks, Kanoelani

First go to User CP and click Edit Options. Scroll down to the bottom (Miscellaneous Options) and for the Message Editor Interface you want to choose Enhanced Interface. Save. You will only need to do this one time. This enables you to customize your posts with images, links, font colors, smilies, etc.

Then make sure that the photo you want to share is hosted somewhere (photobucket, tinypic, image4u, etc.) These sites will provide a URL address for the photo.

When you have your post open, you will see a whole bunch of tools at the top. Choose the yellow square with the grey mountains (the "Insert Image" tool). That will bring up a prompt box. Put the URL address in there and hit enter. The image will show up in your post.

Hope that helps! :)

Does the photo have to be hosted somewhere-can't it be on your computer? probably a dumb question, but I've never done this in a forum before.

You can u/l your image to an image hosting site (like photobucket). They will provide 3 types of codes....for this MB, you copy and paste the 3rd code into the message.

Hey ladies - I figured out something a couple of weeks ago.
1) Do what Shannon said about changing User CP options
2) if image is not on web - then upload to photobucket, flkr, etc
3) if image is on web - then right click on image at another website - choose copy Image Location

4) when you're ready to paste here - click on the yellow mountain box, paste link in there (ctrl v)

and wha-la - it works!!

Hmmmm...but I guess you got to make sure it's ok to be using their bandwidth first, right?

I had never thought of that Karen!

(wonder if that was in my contract? :p will have to check it out)

On the serious side - you do have a point. But it's much more fun seeing the image rather than linking to it. But if every one did it.....

I never knew about this before. I was always including images the hard way - by typing in the code. Thanks so much!

yeah...the bandwidth is the problem with that one :(

But..uploading to Photobucket only takes a few seconds..and then you can post the image in here, in the same fashion!

PhotoBucket (http://www.photobucket.com/) is a free image hosting website. You just u/l you pixs there and they provide 3 different codes that you can use when you want to post your image on different sites. For this MessageBoard, you would copy the 3rd code provided beneath the pix, and paste it into the post and your picture should show up.

I believe w/a free account, they allow 10GBs of bandwidth each month. So let's say you have a blinkie that's 50k. Everytime someone loads a page that contains your blinkie (like in your siggy)...that's 50k charged to your account in photobucket. And photobucket keeps track of how many k/MBs/GBs of your images are viewed. Don't worry....10GBs is pleeeenty of space and usually you aren't posting humongous images anyways. I believe the blinkies in my siggy are probably under 50k. The same logic goes for pictures and other images people post in their messages...though those images are usually bigger and take up more kilobytes.

So although that's plenty of use for a normal user...it can get tough if people take someone else's bandwidth w/o permission. Gina Miller had this blinkie out before that mmmaaaaaany people had in their siggys. I assumed they were all good and 'hosted' them on their own accounts or else that would be a lot of bandwidth taken out of Ms. Miller's image hosting account, kwim. And nobody would want her to go over her monthly limit b/c she posts all these yummy must-haves on her blog :lol
