Hi -
I started reading Understanding Exposure this week & have a question about preset focus on a rebel Xt.

On page 39, under "storytelling Apertures" he talks about the distance setting mark on your lens & to set it to 2 ft.

Does anyone that owns a rebel xt know how to preset the focus to a specific distance (2 ft.)?

Any help would be most appreciated. I've been trying to google & can't seem to find any answers.

Thanks!
I posted this at 2P's also.

I'm sure it's no different than my Nikon lenses... you should have a manual focus ring on your lens.. with a little window that shows the distance. Now, you might have to set your camera to manual focus for that... my Nikon lenses have the ability to manual or auto focus without changing anything, but I'm not familar with Canon.
HTH!!

thanks for the reply. I got an old Pentax camera out & the lens does have the markings on it. The Rebel XT Kit lens doesn't have any markings for distance though.

I've tried to just focus on something about 10 ft. in front of me.

So far - so good.

thanks again for replying.
