and she loved it! She was thrilled which made me thrilled. She is giving it away as a gift but will make a copy for herself as well as a keepsake. I really enjoyed making the album. I think the challenge of creating something for someone else is what I thrive on!:yahoo
Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement (with those that understand) of having my first customer under my belt! Now to officially set up a website, advertise, etc. I think this is going to be fun. Best part is I can still be a stay-at-home mom!

Congrats! There's nothing like the first one! :-) (Although, I still get thrilled every time I finish a job for a client).
Way to go! Let us know when you get your website going!

I am curious how you handled the copy issue. Are you preparing it for her, is she photocopying herself, is she scanning in, did you provide on CD? Also, is she paying you for the copy or privilege of copying? Can you share
And congratulations BIG TIME THRILL!!!

Congratulations!! It must feel so gratifying to know that she really enjoyed all of the hard work you put into her album. Just the first of many, I'm sure!

She is printing a book so all I charge is the printing fee for the extra copy. For me, it is one way of promoting digital over traditional, you pay for the creation and then can make as many copies as you like. I have been paid for my time so if they want to make 4 copies, 1 copy, etc. they are welcome too. I create albums to be printed into hard or soft bound books. I see it as a way of promoting the business. Pay $300 to create an album but give it to 3 different people plus keep a copy for yourself and it breaks it down to $75 per album. Does that make sense?

Thanks for sharing how you handled the copying. There are so many different opinions on what to do about reproductions it is good to hear the theories behind the actions.

Woohoo!! Congrats! I did mine a while and the client was very fussy about how things are done but when it's done and she's happy with the outcome, I was thrilled. She's planning to order another album from me. Yay!

That is a GREAT point, one that I hadn't really been able to put into words. You can even charge a bit more for the initial creation if it's an album they are planning to recopy multiple times from the start. Do you put a limit on how many times they can recopy an album? No more than 10? No more than 50?

Congratulations! I've been considering starting up something similar. It's great to know a product like this is something people want.
