I have a blog where I offer free downloads of templates. My TOU states that these templates are only good for personal use. However, many people would like me to offer S4H/S4O or commercial licenses. If I do want to sell S4H licenses, what legalities do I need to consider? I'm assuming I would need to get a business license. And since I wouldn't be doing business under my full legal name, I guess I need to file a fictitious business name statement. Is there something else I need to do? I see a lot of S4H licenses online but have not been able to find any info on what needs to be done before offering them to the public. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I don't think that offering an S4O licence is any different from offering a Personal Use licence. It's only an amendment to your terms of use.

I think the issue you are actually asking about is 'what do I need to do differently if I am charging', is that right?

Yes, exactly. If I charge for use of my templates in S4H projects, what do I need to do on my end?

That will depend on where you live. Which country, and if in the USA, which state. In the UK (United Kingdom) you don't need to do anything, you just include any earnings in your tax return at the end of year 2. If you're not in the UK, then I have no idea :)

I live in the USA in California. I was hoping that all I would need to do is include my earnings in my income tax statement. But I want to make sure to file anything required of me. If anyone is familiar with California/USA requirements, please let me know. Thanks!

you'll probably have to just google your state requirements
