:) I didn't realize it would raise such a fuss........
Let's go scrap..........

Did you notice that these questions are a bit, um, leading and downright biased???
Maybe it could have said, "Only stupid people believe in X. Are you in favor?"

Maybe it was a mistype, but your link DID NOT take me to www.BarackObama.com (http://www.barackobama.com).

no its barackobamatest.com, I'm guessing it was a typo.

This test is extremely biased and many questions weren't about the issues or Obamas stances at all. The questions are phrased to be extremely slanted.
After doing some research I found out that the test was created by a group of republicans from PM CONSULTING CORP. I'm having a hard time finding much more about this group. But everything I can find about that test through googling leads me to republican and conservative sources.
Personally I can't believe that this has been posted as an actual source for people to use to determine their vote when it is so obviously biased against Obama.

I need to add that I find it hard to even consider taking such a test seriously when one of the questions asks if you are for (not a direction quote but you get the idea) moral values or material concerns and if you choose moral values it puts you as disagreeing with Obama.
I'm sorry to post twice in a row on this but I just cannot get over how much this test bothers me. I simply cannot believe that this would be posted without being considered a joke. People might actually take this test seriously and it is anything but factual. I'm sick of these underhanded tactics to scare people into changing their vote.

Sorry I fixed the link
It seemed to me to be from a conservative perspective but if I had been in agreement with Obama on those issues- it would have shown- I personally just don't agree.
Abortion, gun control....more government/less government....energy......I would think that results would be which ever side of the fence you're on.........
Tiffikat
10-13-2008, 07:12 PM
The results are not. The questions are inappropriately phrased and designed to bring about responses against Obama. They talk about how people do things like this in statistics classes and psychology classes. It is an underhanded way to get people to answer the way you want them to.
I've read more than enough voter sheets and researched enough to know that I tend to agree with Obama on almost all of the issues and according to this test I disagree with him on most because of the way the questions are phrased. This test does NOT reflect Obama's stances on the issues.

Well, but the thing is the way its worded only paints the positives of the Republican side, or negative of the Democratic side, and then asks for your view. Anyone who doesn't KNOW the issues beyond the biased clip given is going to be led to answer against Obama.
It is clearly a tool to sway people to THINK they want McCain based on the issues. When in reality you are just responding to their leading comments.

I thought that question was out of line..( moral vs material).......but the others.........
Hey- you're either FOR gun control or NOT
for abortion.....or NOT ( or agree with variety of exceptions)
You're either for big government /or less government
If you want to flame me - go ahead...........I sent it out in good faith......I took it -
I'm not sure why you're so upset? I apologize..........

I have to disagree............I actually heard a clip where folks were asked who they were voting for...........then asked the issues..........often where they stand on the issues didn't line up with who they were voting . The one I heard was not leading at all..........GUN CONTROL? Yes/NO Abortion YES /NO
I answered the questions not because of any * leading* but because I'm an informed voter.

I'm upset because I feel that this is just one more underhanded way to make people think things that are untrue about Obama. Everything is not black and white.
You are not either for abortion or against. There is middle ground. The same as gun control and almost every other issue you could mention. The world is made of shades of gray.

All 4 options about abortion were slanted and the meaning was unclear as to what you were choosing. The way the questions on that test were asked it makes you seem like a terrible person for choosing some of the answers.

I'm not questioning your answers, but I believe that anyone NOT informed, that might be led to a check-your-candidate type site, WILL be misled by this particular site.
I'm an informed voter too, and in order for me to answer the questions toward my belief, I basically had to answer counter-intuitively. Lawyers (which most politicians are) are TRAINEd to lead the witness to answer ONLY the way that said lawyer needs them to.

Interestingly enough while looking for other political tests to find an unbiased one I stumbled across this one. Nothing to do with Obama/Mccain but interesting none the less.
It basically put me on par politically with Ghandi, lol. (Libertarian Left) Kucinich and Nadar were also fairly close to me on the graph.

No, except.....
Never

Agreed again Donna. Of course :)
LOL...yeah Hitler will do it, because all Hitler's "followers" thought he was such a great and wonderful man too. American's are blinded but for the life of me I cannot understand the attraction to Obama, who has done nothing in his senate career, at all. I wonder if he'll be voting "PRESENT" as president?

The questions were completely clear to me, but then again I know right from wrong. I guess each person has to decide what's right, or wrong. And many people are not very clear on what is right and wrong. Abortion = wrong.

Agreed! I cannot believe how many people are uninformed about Obama. They are literally sweeped away on a wave of lies and misinformation he is propogating. I am like you Donna, an informed voter who is agains every one of Obama's positions.

You have a right to your opinion but I have to say that you could be a lot more respectful in the way you give it. Personally, the more I read your posts the more I feel that you only post to try and start trouble. I think pretty much everyone else has managed to stay respectful most of the time while posting and you thrive off of talking down to anyone that isn't voting for McCain. If it makes you feel better about yourself and your candidate then go for it, but it certainly isn't making you look good.
ETA just because people are voting for Obama does not make them uninformed. It likely means that they have different priorities and opinions on what is needed than you. I am VERY informed on Obama's voting record, stances on the issues, the rumors being circulated, and yes even the things that he plans or has said that I don't agree with. I'm still voting for him because I am just as informed on McCain and to me (and many others) Obama is what is RIGHT for America.

I never intended to flame you either, I just had an issue with the test, not with you!
I respect that we don't all have the same views, I only resent when someone insists that they have a monopoly on the truth and that they and their views need to be MY moral compass. txmusicmom, I don't feel that you articulated that, but both the online test and Opeysmom did.

txmusicmom~ I truly hope you're directing your comments to Opeysmama and not Tiffikat because the only one out of line at this point is Opeysmama.
Opeysmama, you've been pretty awful in many of your interactions here. So you feel you have a moral imperative to call us uninformed, misguided and immoral? I'm sorry, but I don't accept your authority. For the most part, we've been the more respectful group in these debates and never once has an Obama supporter cried, "Bully!" You ignore our well-researched data and continue to spout your garbage, throw out feelings and intuition and call it truth and attack anyone who disputes posted matter. Do you read your words before hitting the "Submit Reply" button? Do you consider how rude and judgmental you come off? Do you care?
