McCain has chosen a man named William Timmons to help plan the McCain adminstration according to the NY Times and many other news outlets.
I read today that Timmons was a lobbyist associated with Saddam. Now I do not know if these claims are true as this is just now getting out into the media and a lot of the places I see when I google are biased sources.
I found this article in Sky News (a London based media outlet)
http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World-News/John-McCains-New-Adviser-Had-Lobbying-Links-To-Saddam-Hussein-According-To-The-Huffington-Post/Article/200810315121145?lpos=World_News_News_Your_Way_Regi on_2&lid=NewsYourWay_ARTICLE_15121145_John_McCains_New_ Adviser_Had_Lobbying_Links_To_Saddam_Hussein_Accor ding_To_The_Huffington_Post
With all of the talk about Obama's associations I feel this is also worth discussing and personally I would love to know more information about this if anyone can find it from an unbiased source.
Thoughts?

All I know about William Timmons is that he has worked for many past Republican presidents, is considered a Washington insider and started a somewhat influential lobbying firm.
Is this the change and outsider views this ticket is promising? :shrug

Didn't in the last debate McCain continuously talked against lobbyists?

Well apparently it's everything and the kitchen sink this election cycle, so in all fairness, if Obama needs to explain his relationship with Ayers, McCain better explain his relationship to each and everyone of these lobbyists.
I am totally fed up with this election at this point. :throwing my hands in the air:

I'm with you. I don't like lobbyists, but I really don't like lobbyists that have dealt with Saddam Hussein. I've only seen something on Sky news and Huffington Post so I'm waiting for more info.

I just Googled "William Timmons" and clicked the News tab and came up with loads of stuff but this listing makes it easier to find the more reputable sources in one fell swoop:

I think it is amazing that when I did a search, there isn't a whole lot of info about this. I surely would be interested if I could find more info. Even fact check has nothing on him. I found the federal lobbying information (http://www.implu.com/lobbyist/38782) he has done in 2008 which shows the majority on key issues going on right now.
Here are a couple links that talked a little about him ... but nothing substantial.

It is odd that such a high profile political player doesn't have much info about him out there at all.....

It seems rather convenient that he's able to say, "I didn't know the two men I collaborated so closely with were also working so closely with Saddam Hussein." How many times during the investigation do you think he repeated those words, made famous by Reagan, "I don't recall." I liken Palin to Bush, Timmons to Cheney and McCain to the patsy who's got a target on his forehead. I hate to say it, but the conspiracy theory I envisioned as soon as McCain became the GOP's guy is just adding another brick atop a solid foundation. If he wins this election, I don't give him 6 months.

Gina.Maria, I've thought the same thing and have thought that if he does win that he better watch his back (as far as Palin and maybe the rest of the party). That is just my personal opinion.

I'm with you...oh, and, let's not forget, this is a man who claims he didn't know his wife had a serious addiction to pain killers and was breaking the law in multiple ways to obtain those narcotics. ;)
