Early voting started today in Florida. Barak Obama is going to be across the street from where I work tommorrow! I tried to get tickets to see Obama. They were gone in 20 minutes! Now I know how people felt with Camelot! (Even though a President has not been elected as of yet.)
Our agency is struggling due to severe funding cutbacks. Our CEO has a plan for our place to get exposure for us tommorrow. I am not sure what it is.

I'll be watching the news, then, to see what the commotion is going to be :)

I doubt if we will get a glimpse of Obama. But, the idea of him being across the street is exciting!

Fabulous! Don't forget to have your camera handy...he is genuinely interested in speaking with as many people as his schedule allows for.
A couple weeks ago he was in the neighborhood attending 2 private functions, one at DNC Finance Chairman, Phil Murphy's house and the other, just down the road at Jon Bon Jovi's house......there was a family with a bunch of children waiting at the corner before Bon Jovi's driveway, they had made up little signs and had those little swirly lights like they have at Disney On Ice and he stopped the convoy to say hello....it was quite the moment. :) :clap

You better leave for work early and plan to walk for a while to get there.
Maybe you can get a peak at him. Please take your camera.

A good friend of mine lives in Philly and she's seen him three times. She said it's different than anything she's ever been to. She's also a former Republican, but went to the dark side.
I think she sent a Barack pic to me. I'll have to find it.

I just had a thought...if a candidate shows up at a polling place. Is that electioneering...?
I mean, the other thread said you can't go to the polling place with buttons or Tshirts with the candidates name or face on them.
But what if the candidate shows up with his face in the polling place?
:eek
Is that electioneering? :lol
(I'm being silly of course.)
Congrats on getting to see him in person.

Yes! It was a fantastic day!
As I stated before, I work with people who have developmental disabilities. One of my clients works at the facility where I work. He is deaf. I arrived very early to work. I took my client across the street. He met a few news reporters, news vans with their antenna in the air,saw the Secret Service, had his picture taken with several "Mama's for Obama" holding signs, loved the T-shirts and met students who were also waiting in line. It was fun because my sign language is almost "up to par" (since the client came onto my caseload) and I was able to communicate with him w/o any difficulty.
We had to go back to work. However, around 9:30am, our clients lined up on the roadway with American Flags, welcome signs, ect.... We had several people without disabilities join us, which was great b/c we encourage as much integration as possible. I took a ton of pictures! Anyway, one of our staff members has connections at one of the news stations. She got the info that Obama was on his way, riding down I-95. When the police would drive by, even a half hour before Obama came, the clients would cheer. Several trucks came by (as I-95 was blocked) and the truckers honked their horns. The clients loved it!
Soon, many motorcycles drove towards us. By that time, I was given one of our bosses Nikon camera (it was a gem!) and she told me to take the pictures. I got pictures of our clients cheering, holding large American Flags and waving small American Flags. I took pictures of Obama's bus turning into the college-which is where he held his "forum". We went inside and listened on the internet.
In the afternoon, I was so busy, I didn't think about his departure. A co-worker prompted me and we went outside when Obama was leaving. Cars were stopped on the street. People became quite irritated at the delay. One of our admin. assistants talked to the irritated drivers as to why traffic was at a standstill. A few of them mouthed off to the assistant.
The officers blocked the intersections. The motorcade of officers led the bus. The bus was in the lane closest to us. The bus slowed down.We couldn't believe it. Obama was at the window. He waved to our clients! WOW! Our CEO, who must be at least 70 yrs old, screamed like a young school girl. Admittedly, I did too, however, I am a tad bit younger than 70. Our CEO even hugged me-a very unusual move for her to do. Now, I am not one who gets all "ga ga" over politicians or famous people. Heck, I have a client I have to check on who works with a famous polo team. But, give me Dale Jr and I'd probably faint on the spot! However, the incredible energy created from those who support Obama is absolutely fascinating and incredible.
As we departed to return to our desks, two college students tried to see the motorcade. When we said Obama slowed down and waved to our clients (and us!), they screamed like they just saw Oprah or Elvis.
I was very glad to be able to help our clients learn more about politics.

It's electric, isn't it? I'm amazed at the positive energy produced by this candidate. My friend and I waited in the hot sun, sitting on the steaming asphalt when our feet started to ache, for over three and a half hours and the crowd remained calm and upbeat the entire time.

It really is amazing...whether a supporter or not it would be hard to deny the optimism he has brought to many people as well as getting a tremendous number of people involved in the process. I hate to use the comparison but people react to him as if he is a rockstar...they truly get into a frenzy just take a peek at him! :wub
My view of him is that he is a great man.
