View Full Version : Do you think...it's over?

I just saw an article about Palin stating she would support a constitutional ban on gay marriage, do you think for all practical purposes, this election is decided? There was a bookie in Ireland that has already paid all his bets out on our election...they decided it was over.

I'm not following you. Are you saying that Palin supporting gay marriage is the final nail in the coffin? I thought her stance on that was pretty clear from the beginning.
Regardless, I don't think its over, till its over. The votes haven't been counted yet -- most haven't even been cast. Its going to be a looong 2 weeks.

I'm with you. I'm not sure how the two are related.

Palin only gives a vote if the Senate is tied if McCain /Palin wins the election.
McCain is not for it.
Executive, Legislative, Judicial
That is a Judicial decision.

no...I am just asking if that added yet another item to rally the troops to vote against or for Obama/McCain. I am curious since the bookie in Ireland paid out millions calling the election over and Obama the winner.
I personally think this is not only going to be a long 2 weeks but a longer month.

No, I don't think the election is over. I do think the bookie is stupid to pay out early. He may regret that.

I'd love for Obama to be the winner . . . but I'm not seeing the relevance of a bookie in Ireland? Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke (you know . . . a priest, a nun, and an Irish bookie are on a boat . . . )

Yuppers, there will be several court cases to be heard, and Florida will likely have to recast all their votes with a chaperone nearby.

There is only county in Florida that is need of assistance and that is Palm Beach county. But I have come up with a plan. There ballots will be prepared, collected and counted by people in other counties. They seriously have major issues. (My dh and I really thought about taking away the right of PBC residents to vote, due to incompetence, but decided that would be wrong. :O) I have friends in that county that I know are perfectly capable of casting their ballots properly.)
Before I moved here, I too thought the entire state was filled with incompetent voters, now I know it's only one county.

I don't like that CNN map. It counts the popular vote, not electoral votes. We all know from the 2000 election that the popular vote doesn't matter, the electoral votes do.

Yeah, and hopefully they will count all the military votes this time too!
quote (http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-10-29-military-vote_x.htm):
In 2000, for example, Florida officials disqualified 1,527 military votes because they lacked postmarks. George W. Bush won Florida — and the presidency — by 537 votes.
The military traditionally votes Republican. In one recent informal survey of the armed forces and their family members, 72% of respondents said they favored Bush over Democrat John Kerry.

Extra long chili cheese conies with tator tots are on sale for $2.99 at the Sonic here. Yum. It's a drive in type place. Some is gross as most fast food but the hot dogs are great. Just make sure to check the bottoms because they have a problem with giving out moldy buns occasionally. Probably doesn't make it sound great but hey one bad experience will scar you for life. Awesome ice cream drinks too.
Who knows what is going to happen. Obama had some momentum but now that stuff is starting to go towards being safer with our money around here he is losing some. I live in a non-Obama friendly area to start with though so you can't gauge things by here or apparently the McCain heads posted over his body down the road here. I swear people have gone and lost their minds. Okay I think the kids are waking up. Gotta get back into the Blue's Clue mode instead of Politics now.

I worked at Sonic in high school, best job I've ever had, but mostly because we had a truly awesome manager.

we're way off topic, but this is more fun anyway.
I grew up in a small rural town with NO fast food. I was convinced that once I moved to a city, I would have McDonald's and Taco Bell EVERY DAY. And I did, for a short while . . . but then you get used to it and it's not so special anymore. LOL. But i have to agree with the pregnant thing . . . temptation is SO hard to pass up when you're pregnant! I used to get a chocolate milkshake like every day on my way home, my last month of pregnancy!!!

I'm with you. Fast food burgers just make me want to gag. They're so greasy... but, I must admit, my fast food guilty pleasure is a Jack-in-the-Box taco, which really, couldn't qualify as a taco in any other country, I'm sure. They may actually be the worst fast food on the planet, but got hooked on them in college... no real reason to ask why, I'm sure you can all figure it out :-)
