Sarah Palin was here in NV today, and I was looking forward to going to see her speak. BUT, oh my goodness... there was such a huge crowd.

My husband and I got there before the "doors" opened (it was an outdoor event, so no actual doors - only metal detectors), but we weren't nearly early enough. Not only was the line to get in somewhere near a mile long, we also had to walk at least half a mile from where we found parking to get to the pavilion. I'm anxious to hear on the evening news if everyone actually made it IN to the pavilion, because we just couldn't imagine how the venue was big enough to hold all the people there standing in line.

After standing in the sun for about ten minutes, and hearing that we'd have to wait there in the sun for at least another 2 hours before hearing Sarah speak, we decided to head home. I watched her speech live on the news, from the comfort of my air conditioned living room, which was probably the better way to go. I would have enjoyed being there, I'm sure, but the sunburn might not have been worth it! :)

I wish we had the weather still to get sunburned. It's been down right cold here at night. That stinks you didn't get in. I'm glad you got to see it though.

A friend and I waited over 4 hours in the Florida heat to watch Sarah Palin. We finally found a nice tree to sit under, grabbed a hot dog and a bottle of water and waited. She drew a crowd of over 60,000 there and it was a wonderful time. Except for the heat. I was so glad to see so many young people there to support her. This was held in an area that is mostly retired people.

The picture above was not taken by me. Palin was over in the top left had corner where you see all the palm tree tops. There were no seats and you had to bring your own if you wanted to sit outside the secure area. I was in the secure area and had to sit on the curb. I could not believe the crowd until I got home and watched the over head views.

I think you made the right decision there, Char. There is a lot to be said for the tv and airconditioning!

we tried to see her here in Colorado - loveland to be specific. apparently over 18K people showed up for a 8K seat event. after waiting in line for 2 hours (with tickets) having gone but a few inches, word started trickling through that the event was already full and the doors were closed.

i was bummed. but glad to see such a great turn out for colorado.

The crowd in Omaha was huge too. I stood in line for two hours and waited another three. But I was pretty close to her when she made her speech so it was worth it. She's a very small framed woman. Wispy!

I didn't realize she was so small. TV makes her seem curvier or maybe McCain is just small himself. My mom said when they saw Obama in Bristol she didn't realize how grey, tired, and older he looked. without the makeup and TV lights. Strange how things really are.

Sorry you missed her *live*--- but I love watching most things from the comfort of my AC.

I know, I thought she looked curvier also. Nope. Tiny. It was one of the things that struck me immediately. I was like "Wow, she's dinky!" And she's prettier in person I might add. Seriously! (Go ahead and gag my Democrat friends :lol)

I am fully Democratic and I think she's incredibly pretty. I just think she's also incredibly unprepared to be president, and that's the job of the vice president.

No my parents are actually voting for him. She was just really shocked at what make up artists can do. Maybe McCain can hire his person instead of Clay Aikens and shave a few years off.
