wait, let me guess . . . the "liberal elite media" are picking on poor old McCain again? (honest reporting doesn't matter . . . it's all a conspiracy)
reading the article now . . . fascinating.

Thanks, Jayne, I can actually see a movie made from this (very long) article. What has been going through my head regarding McCain during this whole campaign is the saying, "To thy own self be true" by William Shakespeare.

hey while we're at it, let's take some more wisdom from that part of the play: "Neither a borrow nor a lender be."
HA HA HA! Sorry.

No problem, I just came back to say I never "got in to" Shakespeare in high school but that quote stayed with me for some reason.

because it was in that Reba McEntire song? ;)
I'm still reading the article. It's long! But seriously . . . fascinating.

No I believe many are trying to figure out if he really changed since 2000 or if all of this just got to him to the point that he started the smearing. Overall stances are what I vote for and I think they all are not the best behaving over their entire lifetimes or even while running for people. They all have dirty laundry against them. People are just pulling in so many directions that everyones head is spinning. They've both tried to pin this on personal things instead of the real issues and many Americans give into it. Pick on where they've voted and what they've done with their experience. Don't vote on empty promises and the personal junk they've been throwing out. The whole country could do better in the long run without that. I didn't realize it was Clinton that talked him into going to Washington though.

No, I didn't even know she had a song with that in it (now I'll have to go look for that).

heh. Look up the lyrics to "Fancy." It's from . . . early 90s?
oh, and I'm a total Shakespeare nerd. I don't enjoy him as much as 19th century British and American lit, but he fascinates me, nonetheless. (You know . . . liberal elite that I am.)

I didn't read that as Clinton said go to Washington, the quote of the staffer (not Clinton) was: “Remember what President Clinton told you,” Schmidt said, referring to advice Clinton had dispensed that morning: “If you do the right thing, it might be painful for a few days. But in the long run it will work out in your favor.”
The article never actually says what Clinton told him.
I actually found the article very fascinating and I truly believe that if John McCain was running his campaign differently, Obama would be working a lot harder. The fact of the matter is that McCain doesn't have a clue about the economy though and that is driving this election. Maybe if they had done a bail-out months ago, like many people insisted they do (remember last year at this time, we're not in a recession, just a bump in the road crap everyone was spewing) and it hadn't cropped up during the campaign, it would be a different story.

Oh, that song (LOL) Bobbie Gentry orignally recorded it and I think Reba made a better hit out of it (yes, I'm old).

It's just back and forth on it though because many people believe leaving the market alone and letting it fix itself because maybe it was just a little artifically messed up is the best way. It's opposing views again and neither is right or wrong. Either way it doesn't guarentee a fix which is the problem. The market does this though. Messing to much with things can make them fall apart as much as not doing enough.
I think McCain's been working to hard and should focus on his plans because many people believe they are much better. All of this personal stuff just brought out the inner Oscar the Grouch.

I have NO problem with media investigating and reporting-
Just do it on both sides........
Every politician has been caught at some point- being *less than themselves*
Thanks for sharing! I'm not done reading

Here was an interesting story I just saw about coverage of the canidates.

I personally really haven't seen anything good about any of them lately though so I'm thinking Fox is on the hating on them all side.

I read that too, and it said that Biden had as much negative press as McCain, so Palin can complain all she wants, but she doesn't have it the worst, she just has more of it. What's that saying, all press is good press?

Okay, I have been sitting here trying to figure out what song had a line about "neither a borrower nor a lender be". Then when I started singing "Fancy" to myself, I realized y'all were talking about "to thine own self be true". lol
