My 7yo dd is going to a Halloween party at her riding instructor's little ranch. She's supposed to dress up - and dress up the horse she's riding, too.

My ds suggested Joan of Arc, which she seems to like, but what sort of costume would that be? Just a cloak? How would you dress up the horse?

Any other ideas? Thanks!

Joan of Arc traditionally is depicted as wearing a coat of armour or, at the least, chain mail. And don't forget the symbol of her faith - a cross. How about National Velvet? The horse doesn't have to be bothered with a costume, then, unless you go for racing silks. Then there's Mister Ed and his sidekick. Who was that guy? ;)

If she likes being a little more gruesome, she could be the Headless Horseman.

Haven't a clue about Joan of Arc. My girlfriend's daughter raises Llama, and shows them on the circuit. My girlfriend recently had to dress a Llama for her grandaughter's Llama show. Both Llama and Granddaughter were in costurme....as a Wisteria Bush. They won first prize. I haven't seen pics of the Llama costume yet, but what she did was drape the Llama in green felt...she had it hanging down quite long, and then she attached silk wisteria plumes to the felt. Grandaughter wore green tights, and a matching green felt with wisteria "poncho". Next year she's going to do the ballerina thing, with a large tutu for the Llama and then silk ribbon criss crossed up the legs for the ballet shoes (does that make sence?) . It might be cute to follow the idea of the wisteria bush and make the horse a pile of leaves, with silk leaves attached to felt. Your daughter could carry a rake!

How about Jessie and Bullseye from Toy Story? The Lone Ranger and Silver?

(Okay, I'm still laughing at the llama idea, even though I like it!)

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to give her these suggestions tonight - not much time left to decide, lol!
