Do you really think we (the people) have a right to expect candidates to release them? If they were applying for a private sector job and employer asked for med records...they would be sued. HIPAA laws state I can't even get my teen's lab results without her permission...yet I can expect that the POTENTIAL president & his running mate open up their medical history for the world to see. I just see it as an invasion of privacy at the highest extent. If McCain had/has melanoma but is well enough to campaign and be elected...let him do it. If Obama smokes cigarettes, let him. Last I checked he was an adult and its not illegal to smoke (I am a 3 generation non smoker & can not abide cigarettes). I hate the Big Brother role govt & media try to play.

There is another thread on this somewhere. My opinion is that medical information should only be released as it would affect the job he needs to do (such as a life threatening disease or Alzheimer's).

In my experience an employer can request a note from your doctor stating that you can meet the demands of the job (i.e. lift 50 lbs, etc). This would be similar to me.

If either Obama or McCain had a disorder that would affect their ability to complete their term then I think it is important to know because that could increase the chances of Biden or Palin becoming President which would likely change many votes on both sides.

Yeah, I started a thread on this a while back after seeing an interesting piece on CNN about this very subject.

The average life span of a white male is 75, that alone is a little scary!
