View Full Version : Thank you for your patience

Well the good news is that DST is so successful that I am completely overwhelmed. :lol Every day, all day - PMs and emails and threads that require attention and projects like BAF chats and site updates and customized mugs. Man, oh, man! So I realize it's taking me a good 3 days to get back to people. That is a standard I'm not happy with. There are major issues and projects that I can't even give my attention to because I'm so swamped with masses of detailed work. That's not a good balance. So I have gratefully accepted Ripal's help and brought her on as an administrator. It's time for me to juggle the to-do list so that I can put these large projects and issues at the top of my priority list. Unfortunately, I've been so swamped that I haven't had a chance to even discuss which jobs I'll be handing over to her.

So how can you help?

Be on the lookout for posts from people who need assistance. If you're able to answer those posts to help them out, that saves me some time!

Keep the ball rolling. Keep up with answering those help questions in the Digital Scrapbooking Help forum. Keep up with the 5-for-5 threads (are people still starting those regularly? They're a great idea!) Keep welcoming newcomers and being the phenomenal and amazing community that you already are!

Please only PM me for things that are pressing. At least for the next week or so. I'm not one to give up my duties easily but if delegating the work load to others is what will serve this community better, then I've gotta do it. I just need to have the time to properly set things up and teach the process. So please save your less urgent issues for a few days. And please be patient if you have already sent me an email or PM that is waiting for a response. I promise I'll get to it as quickly as I can.

I was a secretary for a very large ministry before I had kids so I'm used to being the one who TAKES all the work and says "I can do that!" This is a different hat for me - to be the one who has to delegate. Stupid Type A personality is getting me in trouble here. :lol

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your patience! I appreciate it! I've been feeling terrible that I can't answer the emails and PMs quickly enough and though no one is complaining (at least not that I'm aware of), I do want you all to understand why there is a delay and that we're working on a better balance. We're working on an improvement :agree

You're too sweet Shannon. I know what that's like - I'm exactly the same way! LOL. If you think of anything you need help with besides the things you already mentioned, let me know! :)

I understand what you mean, Shannon, but I have two things to say. 1.) I have NEVER had to wait for information. You and Erick have both been johnny on the spot from day one and always with a smile. 2.) Please do consider adding a few helpers to do some of the easy stuff. Burn out is an ugly thing. Take care of YOU! :notworthy

I was wondering how long you were going to be able to do this all by yourself! I mean, there's only such much multi-tasking one can do without getting totally burned out! Take care of yourself.

What Dianne said! Like TOTALLY!

I always think... gee, does she have a little bell that alerts her to MY email so that she comes running? You are always very responsive.. but please don't do it at the sake of other more pressing matters.... DO ask for help. And we'll be paitent while you train them to be your super-woman-in-training! :)

You are a very wise woman Shannon- good idea to delegate now before digiscrapping explodes any more LOL!

You have always been unbelievably awesome with communication! :clap

I'm sure there is no way I can do even half of what you do, but so glad that I'll be able to help you out to fill in little gaps! You deserve some family time and your family needs you too!

Just wanted to thank you for trusting me to delegate some of your work! I totally understand how hard it can be for Type A personality! ;)

:lol I know! I know! And Laura emailed me a couple of days ago (which I still haven't responded to. I'm totally doing that today though. I swear Laura!) But you just took on more stuff with the newsletter so I didn't want to tap you dry.

The hardest part is actually finding the time to hand all the stuff over with an explanation of how to do it. :duh

:lol That's true Des! Does this offer include laundry and babysitting?: :lol3

Thanks everyone who has offered to help in some way! You all just continue to amaze me with how great you make this community! :clap It's actually kind of nice to have all these offers in one spot so that if something comes up, I can look through this thread! I've had people offer to help before but by the time I might need help, I'd completely forgotten who had offered! :lol2

I sent you a PM a while back, but I assumed you weren't in need of help then. I am offering again to help with whatever you may need.
