AHHH. I GOT ONE FOR CHRISTMAS ALONG W/ A 75-300 MM LENS!!!
I can not believe it! Now I need a tut/course on how to use this thing!
So excited, but a little intimitated and will definitely have to get used to the bulkiness of it, so used to my point&shoot.
Any direction?:)

I would say, read your manual. Seriously. It is a wealth of knowledge. Then go to good ole' Google and ask for Canon Rebel Xs Tutorial (http://www.google.com/search?q=canon+rebel+xs+tutorial&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a)(like I did w/ that link) and find one that you like.

Check the Photography forum here (http://www.digishoptalk.com/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=18) and at other sites.

Take a hand's on class in your local area.

Maybe read - Understanding Exposure (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0817463003/bookstorenow57-20). (You could get it on Amazon or at your local library.)

And play, play, play with settings. :)

so those of us who got a NikonD60 for Christmas should do the same thing??? I was coming to ask if anyone knew of an online class that would help me explore my camera! Remember I live smack dab in the middle of nowhere so a college class is not an option :(

I got a Rebel a few weeks ago too! I am finding the user manual so much more user friendly than the one for my A100. I think there is actual hope for me to get out of auto!! My X-mas gift is camera/photo lenses that start in January so I will come back and share any great nuggets of wisdom! I have also found Pioneer Woman Photography (file:///C:/Users/Chris/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/692qcj0u.default/chrome/sagetoo/sagetoo.html) to be really helpful!
