I am looking for a new camera...I've read all of the reviews and I have narrowed my choices down to two camera's
- Sony® a (alpha) DSLR-A100K 10.2MP Digital Camera Kit
or
- Canon® Digital Rebel XTi EOS Digital SLR
I've heard tons of personal stuff about the Canon here and elsewhere, but nothing on the Sony ...I have owned many Sony cameras in the past and love them, but I want something that is going to last for years to come!
Anyone own the Sony camera above? and if so, how does it perform?
thanks for your help!!
I just got a regular XT Rebel and retired my old Sony 5mp DSC-F707 I was wondering about the new Sony too, they are so new I am curious ;)

Perhaps you could read through the Sony SLR Talk forum at dpreview or post your questions there?

I haven't even heard of the new Sony until this thread, but I have owned two of their digital cameras and they have been truly wonderful cameras. My professional photographer friend could not believe how beautiful the pics were from our old Sony FD (the ones that took floppy disks!).

I have the Minolta Maxxum 5D (6.1 megapixels) that is now the Sony Alpha. Sony bought out Minolta and they have switched the name. I love my camera!!

I have hte new Sony A 100 and I am in love with it..Battery time is awesom. Just starting to play in RAW. I have had a Sony Mavica before and also have a small cyborshot. We just took the cameras on a fall foliage trip and I am even more stoked about its abilities. However as I have said before when you get in this price range of camera the are all good however I like the steadiness built into this camera and not into the lenses as it is with cannons. Lens can get $$$ this one comes with a pretty good all purpose lens out of box. Good luck with your purchase

Oh, my gosh, I just bought the Sony camera you mentioned. I've only had it 2 weeks and this is my first SLR camera so I'm still learning how to use it. Just having it on auto so far I've gotten some great pics.
I think this camera just came out in August so that might be why some have not heard of it.
My point and shoot is the Sony Cybershot which I've really liked. I just wanted to move up to an SLR camera so I could snap pictures of my grands on the move a little quicker.

I am really leaning towards the Sony only because I've had two different ones (Cybershot ) for the past 4 years and LOVE them..not to mention they have withstood drops, falls, condensation, and THREE toddlers!!!

I'm so excited to find this thread and read that you ladies love the camera. I just ordered the Sony A100 yesterday from B&H. :D I'm thrilled that I can use my Tamron lenses that I had for my 35mm minolta. I love my lenses and I was thinking about going back to film just so I could use them again. :madness I should be getting it early next next week.
