How do I link layers in PSE 6?

I am upgrading from PSE 3 to 6. In PSE3, I just click in a box in my layers palette and it links the layers together. I can't figure out how to do it in PSE6. I see the little chain symbol over in the layers palette but when I click on it nothing happens. Help!

possiby after you high light all the letter right click & see if there is a link tag ? been a while since I used pse 6 so sorry if I am not helping
