View Full Version : Can you buy Patterns/Textures?

Is it possible to buy patterns or textures? I'm wanting to create a background with the texture of a basketball. I looked through the options available in PSE4 but didn't see anything that was quite right. I'm fairly new to this, so I'm not totally aware of what's available. TIA.

qualifier -- I have little experience in this - but in PSP there are textures included in the program.....

You maybe want to post this in the help section & include the program in the subject line & someone will help out. This chatter section moves so fast!

Janie, I just made a sheet of basketball paper for you if you'd like it. A pattern was in my software (GIMP 2.2) for something that looked like legos and I just enlarged it and made it orange. The dots are in straight lines and not random like a real basketball, but I think I hit the color about right. Just PM me your address if you'd like it and I'd be happy to send it this evening. :)

Yes, you can purchase patterns and textures from many sources. There are companies that make packages, including:
idream Stock Multi Focus series; Photodisc; Digital Vision; PhotoAlto; Datacraft Sozaijiten;
Here are a couple links to start:

Here is a great site with free royalty-free textures. You can download 20 per day or buy them all if you can't wait to do the free downloads. Their texture library has over 3400 free to download, free to use, high-resolution textures. Online at www.mayang.com/textures

I have a basketball you can use (http://www.photospot.fotki.com/digitalscrapbookelements/miscellaneous_elements/sports/). Be sure to right click on the "get original photo" link and do a "save target as."

You can learn to make your own patterns and textures if you want. It really is not hard.

I've got a son on the basketball team too and I am bound to make more things soon.
