I just love challenges and hope we do a lot of them on this part of the board. Thought I'd get the ball rolling and issue a color themed challenge for this week.

It's a simple one:

Take a great photo with the main theme of: ORANGE

Just post your photos on this thread before next Sunday evening and I'll try to think up something more challenging by then! lol! Sound fun? Can't wait to see all the great photos that come out of this! :D

Sounds like fun! I will play. Now all I have to do is find something Orange. :D

that sounds like fun, and an easy theme for me too  One of my favorite colors for my boy is orange

It has to be a great photo? LOL I'll try, but I can't guarantee anything great!

Well, these aren't great but the challenge did give me a chance to try out my new 50mm lens on these flowers in my yard. So I'll be first! Be kind, I'm a beginner!

Shelly, I love your photo-very creative! What's the swirly white stuff under the peaches? Is that icing?? Whatever it is, this photo looks quite yummy! TFS!

:D So happy you all are playing! (Darcy, get back in here! lol!)

Just cause I started this challenge doesn't mean I know what I'm doing! I have a dinky camera and have LOTS to learn. So I'm hoping to learn from you all! Loving what I've seen already -
Lynn, your lillies are so pretty! The rich orange against the green is such a nice contrast and the depth of field is excellent!

And Shelly's canteloupe (besides making me crave melon!) is so cool - the swirls on the plate and the fruit arranged in a swirl is such a great set-up! Looks like something out of a magazine!

Here's my first attempt (first, because I had something else in mind. But the girls picked this for me today and I had to take a quick little shot of it)The colors came out a little stronger than in real life - don't have enough light in my living room this time of day. CC always welcome! :D

Rose, love the reflection of the flower! Did you photograph it on a glass table? Looks fantastic!

Thanks girls!

Alissa, it's just a smallish mirror and a piece of cardstock (left over from my brief paper scrapping days!). The flower is pretty small - the bloom is about an inch across.

Ok ladies, here we go.

I have never been successful at posting a picture on a message board, so I posted my photo on my blog. I'm calling it shades of orange because my dd's dress is orangish with bright orange flowers. And my dh is wearing a rusty orange shirt, although it looks more red in the photo. I guess that would be my first problem, lol.

I love photo challenges. Here is a photo of a butterfly and orange Turk's Cap Lillies I shot a couple years ago in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC. I was using a little Nikon Coolpix 4300 at the time before getting my Canon 20D. I love the way the camera caught the movement of the butterly wings.

Your daughter is just beautiful! And you have done a lovely job on her birthday portrait. This is better than any studio portrait because she was relaxed with you while you were photographing her. Thanks for sharing this wonderful photo of her special day!

Thanks so much Alissa! Gosh no, you're in good company. I just found your photo and it is awesome! Your little girl is beautiful. Although I've won a photo contest or two and sold a little bit of stuff, I still consider myself an amateur. I get lucky shots and if I don't, well I'm learning to make them better in PS. :D

The sunset is wonderful! Isn't it amazing how gorgeous the sky can be when we take time to look!
I love the basket of little pumpkins. I am impressed by the variety of subjects for photos in this challenge.
And Betty Jo! How nice to run into you and your superb photography here!
This sounded like a simple challengee-photograph something orange-but it has produced a wide range of wonderful photographs. I can't wait to see some more!

Lynn and Peggy your lily photos are beautiful (all the photos in this thread are beautiful). Peggy what is that lily, I'm not sure I've ever seen one quite like it?

I was scanning some slides this morning from before I owned a digital camera. This flower is orange so I thought it would work nicely for this challenge. I took the photo with Velvia slide film at Deepwood Estate in Salem, OR.

Thank you ever so much. I really don't know. These flowers were huge. They look like over-grown mums! I'll ask a gardener friend if she knows.

Oh, Selana! That picture of your little boy's cute little orange bottom is wonderful! I also like the way you have the light behind the butterfly wings so it shows how transparent they are. These are terrific photos...and orange too!

Karen, I checked out your layout and left a comment. So nice!

Sorry! My internet connection went down Sunday afternoon right after I had logged onto DST! :x Didn't have a chance to see this thread.

 :D I've got to say I am just AMAZED at the talent here!! It would take me the rest of the day to say how impressed I am at your photos! Fabulous flowers, sunsets and sweet babies! I can see I'm going to learn a lot from you girls! :) You all made orange sing!

I promise to be on the ball (even if I have to use my neighbor's dial-up!) to make sure I get the challenge out next week! :)

Thank you so much RockinC for coming to the rescue! Love the new challenge - I have *just* the blue thing in mind!
