Okay, for some reason all of my snow pics came out blue!

I have two questions:
1. What did I do wrong to cause this?
2. What can I do now to save them? (this is made more difficult by the fact that her hat is white, so I lose all detail on that if I "blow out" my snow, KWIM?)

Snow can be really hard to photograph. All that mass of white throws things off. I would try either getting a custom white balance reading next time, or play with the various white balance settings til you find one that is more pleasing.

To save them, I would duplicate the photo. On the top layer, color correct for the snow so that it is white. Then, add a layer mask and remove your daughter from the top layer. She will peak through from the bottom layer.

--Yes, I 'd do the same as what Kim suggested, although I kind of like your blue snow :) :) If you get some cute blue, winter themed papers to match, the pic would be even extra cute!! Sometimes I think a color cast "works" in a pic, but I am still always trying to get that perfect WB :) :)

ETA: I just thought of this--you could also *try* fiddling with the blue and/or cyan channel in the Hue-saturation adjustment, or in the selective color adjustment. The pants she's wearing might change in a way that you don't like, but you can always erase that portion of the adjustment layer. Just a thought...don't know if it will give you the result you desire, but sometimes that does work for me.

There is more than one way to skin a cat. I think the fastest way to do it though would be to replace the color. I did it really quickly just to show you. I'm sure you would want to tweak and adjust other things but it's a great start.

On this one I took out all the blue. But I think blue makes it look nice and cold...good thing since it's Winter.

I love using Replace Color...when I want to change something in my photo to match the kit I'm using :lol:lol. Must remember that for other things too.

Note to self...if I should ever be in snow (it doesn't snow here :lol)...make sure I'm in RAW mode :lol

Okay, so here is a LO using what I came up with. I ended up cropping quite a bit, and also used the "skin tone" selecter thing in PSE. Thanks again for all the advice...

p.s. I know it still looks kinda blue, but it is waaay better than it was before!
