They're all beautiful! :)
Coincidentally, my 50mm 1.8 lens arrived today. BUT, I had told dh he could "give" it to me as a Christmas present, so I won't be playing with mine for several weeks. Oh, the wait!!

My 50mm 1.8 came in the mail today. I didn't have a chance to take any daylight photos... but the indoor photos with flash were crystal clear. WOOT!

:eekKylie - amazing photos! (:lol Ironically, I chose your layout as the pick of the day because of the photo and now it's even cooler knowing that this is something you're JUST learning to do.)
I am definitely hoping that Santa brings me this lens for Christmas. And that book that Andrea recommended (Understanding Exposure) looks like a must-have too. I'm so excited to finally be learning something about my camera. :lol

Are those straight out of the camera or did you do work to them? If they're straight out of the camera I need one of those NOW!!!!!!!!!!
If they're not, I need you to photoshop my stuff!! LOL!!

These pics are amazing! I got my 50 mm 1.8 in the mail last week, and actually did a shoot on Saturday. (No people shots, though.) It was very strange shooting with that lens than the kit lens--I mean it felt weird, you know? But I could already tell, even though I wasn't using it for portraits that I would like it. I did a low light, no flash pic of Christmas decorations that you can see on my blog if you want.
Anyway, got sidetracked as usual there. The pictures you took make it look like you are playing with the big girls now! Congratulations!

Oh wow! GORGEOUS. DH should be picking up that lens while in the states. I sure hope so anyway! I tried taking some pictures of the boys decorating the tree and just wasn't happy with the results. And here I thought I was all set just having the dslr.:duh

Gorgeous! The first one is beautiful with the colors in the background and her eyes! But I just LOVE the 2nd one...it's so moody and artistic!

Susan - the coloured ones are straight out of the camera - but I did sharpen them - I also shot them in RAW - but didn't have to adjust anything!!!
The others are photoshopped!!!
I hope you all enjoy your new lens - it's a winner for sure!!!
I had another play tonight - I'll link the thread up in a tic!
