View Full Version : Can't get Atomic Cupcake Actions to work

I'm sure it's just my goofed up version of PS7...but I can't get any of the actions to work.

I'm running into it stopping during an action and saying this "command" is not available. It's either Cloud or wave or whatever...I can hit continue, and it might run nother bit, then stops at a different action that's not available.

I'm going to try to get new updates now, but I'm not sure if it's something else I just am missing and am too clueless to get. :?

Darcy, did they ever work for you in PS7? I thought I saw some earlier posts from you where they did? Ok, I don't use your software, but rather PSE 4, and I find that I get this message when I forget to 'select' - 'marching ants' the layer I want the action to run on. Is it the same in PS7?

When I first tried an action I think it said something similar. I have PSE3. My problem (may not be yours...) was that I didn't have what I wanted the action to "run" on selected. Oops.

hehehe ... my grandkids do this Carrie, only when you get 'jinks - say the same thing at the same time', you can't talk till someone says your name 3x's!!!

... sorry for the hijack Darcy ... now back to your regular programming!!

No. :) When the clouds and other stuff won't run in the middle of the action it's a memory problem.

Try closing your other programs, going into the memory settings in preferences and lowering cache levels, and then restarting Photoshop. (Lower cache levels makes more of your zoomed out versions look odd on the screen, but it really speeds up Photoshop.)

Kenna,

No, I've never been able to make them work. At first we thought it was a memory issue..that's why I made that suggestion to someone else. But today, even when I had the item selected and everything else closed, I still run into it not having commands available to complete an action. Texturizer, cloud, wave and glass are the ones it stalls on in the AC Tear action.

I'm really frustrated right now...I can't get these to work, I don't have the save to the web feature, I think I might have to reinstall, but DH cannot find the disks anywhere to do that. ugh..just ugh LOL.

I was just going to remind you about having the item selected... with MARCHING ANTS around it, not just click on it. I asked this question just the other day, and this was exactly my cure!

A couple questions:

First, what is there in memory settings under: cache levels, ram, maximum used for photoshop.

Second, if you press ctrl-alt-delete to bring up your task list, then you click mem usage a couple times, what items are there that are more than 15,000k or so and what are there amounts?

I notice your scratch disk is on the same disk as Photoshop, but they're both D. Is it possible to use the other drive for the scratch or is it too full? Photoshop does a lot of weird things when they share.

Can you run clouds by yourself on the same size document? (Like, run the action and when it errors, stop and run clouds?) If you put cache at 2 and restart do the actions run?

I'm not understand the part about putting cache at 2

We moved the scratch disk to D specifically because it had so much room and C does not. I may be able to have DH move it to the backup drive which has a little less space than our D.

I'll try to do the cloud by itself. I did try to test a few PS actions that were already in the program and I was having the same problems - so just wanted to make sure that everyone knew it wasn't really just the AC stuff. I do appreciate your patience, though, and willingness to walk through this with me.

If you go to edit, preferences, memory (in Photoshop), you'll see a box where you can change "cache levels" to 2. It REALLY speeds up Photoshop, but your zoom-outs will look a little fuzzier on the screen.

The first one it stalls on is Texturizer (trying to use the tear action). When I stop it, I then click on texturizer in that same menu, click play again, and it says the samething - that command is currently not available.

It was on 4 and I switched it to 2, and also increased the available RAM to PS, and it does the same thing..stops at Texturizer.

With a restart? It won't take until photoshop restarts.

No, not then, either. It's just my program. I'm going to just have to dig to find the disks and try reinstalling to see if that helps.

I just tried running the Foam stamp action and I run across the same problem. It goes through the whole action, but stops at glass, and if I just continue, it runs through til clouds, etc.

Thanks so much for trying to help. This is obviously a user problem and not a program problem. I appreciate your patience so much.

Email me if it's just hopeless. No point in paying for something that you can't use. :)
