Hi
I want a new camera, but donŽt know what to look for. I was looking at Kodak P850, and it got what I want but every one is warning about buying it.
I need a allround camera but not a compact camera, it needs to beable to zoom (pref. 8-12x optic zoom), with around 5 Megapixels, easy to use is a plus
What is good? Can you help me?

Panasonic has an awesome lineup. I'm not sure what their newest models are but the F series are great.
Awesome zoom and image stabilization :)

My DH has the Sony H1 and he loves it. Sony have replaced this, you may still be able to pick it up on clearance (this is what hubby did) but the H2 and H5 are supposed to be good as well. I also know quite a few people who are happy with the Canon Powershot S2 or S3, but the reviews tend to slightly favour the Sony.
All of these have the big optical zooms (I think 10x) and image stabilization. DH's seems really easy to me, but I use an SLR so I think it would depend what camera you're coming from. It's also really light for its size!

My only advice is go to a store where they sell cameras and hold them in your hand. This helps to make sure you like where the dials are at and it fits comfortably in your hand. Have fun shopping :)

If you want a bigger non-dSLR, mega zoom cam, you can look at the Canon, Panasonic, or Sony cams already mentioned. If you want a smaller mega zoom I think Panasonic makes the only purse sized one. I have a Panasonic and it is very good. I don't have any experience with the others, but I imagine they are also very good. If you can get one at Costco, I would buy it there, b/c they have a no-hassle return policy with no "restocking" fees like most of the big box electronic stores.

Ken Rockwell has a lot of comparison articles on his site. Check it out and see what cameras he has had a chance to play around with. I think I got the most information from this site out of all the ones I looked at when I bought my Nikon. Helps you to understand all the camera jargon out there.

I have the Sony H1 and I love it! I am still learning all of its features but even the auto setting takes beautiful pics. My only gripe with it is the shutter lag. But I am impatient.
Good luck!

I picked up some photo mags when I was stuck at the airport the other day and read that there's a new compact mega-zoom out from Kodak - I believe the model number was V610. Don't know anything about it (was just an advert) other than the fact it was seriously tiny!

I have the Kodak Easyshare Z740 which is proble "old" by now but I love it. Its small but not really small. It takes great pics and works for all my needs. The pics I print are awesome but that could be the printer as well LOL Its also an easy camera for the kids and dh to use. You can see it here, hopefully the link works: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007MVZ5A/sr=8-1/qid=1154265931/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-0402433-3615057?ie=UTF8

Give Panasonic a look. I love the FZ's ~ had the 20, upgraded to the 30 and planning on getting the 50 when it comes out in Sept. Love the zoom ~ 12x. I've heard the TZ1 is really good too.
