I just got mine about a month ago and I just love it. I am slowly working my way into manual mode, but with the kit lens I have, I am not having so much luck! It's all so confusing to me, I really need to take a class. Now I do have a full manual 50mm 1.4 that I didn't realize did not work in auto when I bought it on e-bay and I have gotten some decent shots with that in manual, but I am still working on it.

I need a good lens for macro(?) shots, any suggestions?? I can't get a really good, really close up picture with either of the lenses I have.

I've had my mine since March. I bought the body and the 28-300 lens. So far I've pretty good luck. I'm still learning too...outside I can take gorgeous shots. It's lowlight situations I'm having problems with. I refuse to use a flash and I think I drink way too much caffeine to steady my hand! LOL!

I bought one for Christmas. I bought a new longer lens for vacation and I love it. I do have to admit, though, that I have been so happy with the pictures taken with the auto settings I haven't really ventured out of them....maybe when school starts.

Oh me!

I have had mine for almost a year but to admit that I rarely shoot in anything but auto  I really need to make the time to re-learn the things I did in media studies at school and really wrap my head around the manual settings again.

Does anyone have any tips for idiot proof web sites with tips for using your DSLR?

Have you checked out www.dpreview.com ? Excellent source for digital photography. Their forums are packed with info. I have the D50, but I don't know enough about different lenses to help you out! But check out that site if you haven't already!

Edited to fix link!! sorry!

We have one, but my husband is more the photographer in our family- when I use it, I only use the auto mode. So really I'm not much help. :) I second on the above site, though- there is tons of info there!
