We are about to start first grade work with oldest and youngest is moving up into PreK fun just because he wants to be like brother.

Jackie - I think a lot of parents feel how you feel. Good luck with your year!

I don't have the paitence and my kids are TOO social. We do a lot of real world supplementation though. If DS is interested in something, we go for it! He was on this weather kit for awhile--and even put he wants to be a storm chaser in his year end review at school. Anyway, we were driving through the middle of NM and he starts telling us that we were wrong about shooting stars. "Yeah, they're really meteorites burning up the mesosphere." Totally out of nowhere! Sorry for the digression. '

Good luck to all of you who do homeschool!

LOL! Mine is an aspiring weatherman, too. He wants to be just like Jim Cantore when he grows up - but he wants to do his weather reporting from Mars :)

I think it's great that you support his interests!

Hahahaha Jamie I had to laugh. As if my kids were anti-social...hehe one can only wish. ;-) It sounds like you have a great system going! What a great idea to follow your son's interests with supplemental studies! What a great mom! I kinda miss with my firstborn being interested in stuff like that...now it's all computers computers computers! LOL. Woosh right over my head. With my daughter it's all about art and crafting, tho....right up my alley! 8)

I'm a homeschooler for my 11 year-old. I have 4 kids. The oldest homeschools, while the middle two go to public school and the youngest hangs out with me at home. As far as, homeschool, there are so many fun groups you can belong to, while doing your own thing. My son is part of a homeschool bowling league, and a running club that is offering bi-athilon training in the fall.

My son makes schooling difficult, I hope he learns inspite of his attempts not to. :)

Sorry, didn't mean to give the wrong impression  He's just way too active for me and thrives in all the activity at school. DH and I are really passionate about education, he teaches too. We are blessed to have an incredible library here that we visit all the time. It amazes me the books DS picks up. No stories, ALL non-fiction. Latest craze is National Parks. I so admire homeschoolers and wish I had the patience to do it. I love the whole idea of working curriculum around what the kids are interested in.

I am going to! we are already "playing" school with some preschool activities. I can't believe that at THREE I'm getting the "is she in school yet" question! She's three! lol but we drive around alot for playgroups and dance classes (she's VERY social!) and we always are learning something in the car. She knows all about street signs and lights and what colors are for what kind of signs (she initiated the conversation). lately she has been asking questions about what is real and what isn't. lol its very cute, although sometimes already, I don't know how to answer her! lol so we'll see how long homeschool lasts! of course, we have a lot of craft time! lol she's very creative and is awesome with scissors, glue, glitter, etc. She even has her own scrapbook that she puts pics in and tries to decorate like mommy does!

Yup! I've got 3 girls ages 10.5, just 7 and 23.5 months (who is EVERY BIT 2). We've been HSing for 3 years now. YIKES. It was just supposed to be while we moved from CA to FL - what happened????? :)

My obsession with homeschooling and scrapping led me to create my Homeschool•Scrappers (www.hsscrappers.com) message board. I'm about the only DigiScrapper there though - so i talk to myself a lot :D I still paper scrap too. I do NEITHER very often these days.

We even have lots of non-homeschoolers there (in fact, 3 of my 4 mods DON"T HS), mostly everyone is scrapping for themselves and not to get published (ok, that sounds bad, but we are a mix of Simple and fancy and well, i'll stop! LOL!!!)

Feel free to come try us out if you want!

Hi everyone!

We homeschool.... this is our second official year. My son (6) will be doing first grade next year and my daughter (4.5) is technically Pre-K but will be starting some K stuff with us next year because she's insisting on joining in (she's the "me too, me too" type).

We're loving it and have a huge support network where we live. We even have homeschool recess everyday with about 4 other families. I'm working my way through the group and converting them all to digiscrappers. LOL!
