View Full Version : Selecting multiple layers in PSE 2

I run PSE 2.0 on an iMac. I've looked through the help menu and can't find the right page that tells me how to select multiple layers in the layers palette so that I can add drop shadows to like 10 layers at one time and then change the size down. I do a lot of double page spreads at 12 X 24 and my .psd files usually have like 75 layers.
Is this possible in 2.0 or is this more ammunition for more RAM so I can run PSE 4.0?

I don't have PSE installed at the moment to confirm, but I'm sure this option was new in PS CS2 (and therefore maybe carried through to PSE 4.0?) so it may not be possible! :(

It is possible! Click on one of the layers that you want linked. Then go to your layers menu. Right next to the "eye" you will see a box sometimes it has a paint brush in it sometime it is blank. Click on this box in the layer that you want linked. You'll get a chain icon to indicate that it is linked. If you need to seperate the layers, then ununcheck the box.
I am not sure how you can get it to shadow all of them at the same time. You may have to "merge linked" but I think you can't undo that should you decide to change something later. The method of linking above will allow you to move and resize the linked objects.

Can you put layers into a Group folder in PSE2? I love Group folders!

thanks for the responses ladies.
Jannylynn, I know how to link and that does work for moving and resizing but not for adding effects like drop shadows. The shadow will only appear on the one that is selected (unless I'm doing something wrong - LOL!)
Betsy - I'll have to investigate groups in PSE 2 - hadn't heard of that one.

PSE2 doesn't have group folders. :(
