I saw it in sacramento like (omigosh, it's been longer than i thought cuz it was before maddy was born) 13 years ago, but have the soundtrack, and am watching an orchestra production with the original cast singing, in costume, and even that makes me choke up. It's my all time fave. Serious (i'm emberassed to admit that if my husband had let me have my way, my youngest would be named eponine)

My little cousin was in the Broadway production of this at the end of it's run so my family is OBSESSED with this show! He was Gavroche. He is now on the ABC family show Wildfire.

Anyway, we LOVE Les Mis and have seen it about 15 times! I think I need to dig out that soundtrack!

Definitely one of my favorites....the music is so timeless....when I was growing up and our family would go on vacations, we'd always listen to musicals and sing them at the top of our lungs, along with the Beatles, of course. :D

LOVE Les Mis!

Me! Me! I too saw this about 15 years ago in Pasadena. LOVE IT! I still listen to the music all the time--at least half of it, one of my cds was misplaced moving. :x Have you all read the book? The WHOLE book? One of my all time favorites.

Oh! I do!!! I saw it about seven years ago...and yes, it still makes me cry...I'm a little on the obsessive side though. I have both the English and French soundtracks and the novel (complete version and abridged version and the original in French) I WANTED to play Eponine soooo bad, but I gave myself "Cosette" for a name in French class in high school. Love that one!

My husband is an uber-fan - sings to the soundtrack all the time. If his love of Lord of the Rings didn't slightly outweigh Phantom, if we had a daughter that would be her name as well (his LOTR fascination might end us up with an elven middle name for any daughter we might have).

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Les Mis! My first musical and had me humming all the tunes when I left. I've only seen it twice. I've seen the production on PBS...must've been some 10, 15, something celebration and I had chills.

Absolutely LOVE it. What's everyone's favorite song/scene? I love Stars and the beginning of Come to Me. In fact, I used to sing parts of that to my little girls before bed -- "I will sing you lullabies & wake you in the morning."

My husband loves it too -- which is nice to share!

I just love how that show is staged on that turning circle thing --

My friends and I finally saw Miss Saigon a few years ago. WONDERFUL! I really wish they'd come out with another musical.

As for favorite song, wow, I just don't know. On my own is great, but I think I was most impressed stage wise with Do you hear the people sing? I just love it all! Maybe I should put it in.

My fave, too... I have seen it 5 times and just saw it again on the farewell tour when it was here in Seattle. It it closing, so if the show is in your town, GO! You may not get another chance... My favorite part is the end when Jean Valjean is being greeted by Cosette and Eponine- just breathtaking!

Yah, i just missed it in LA, i think it left like two days ago, and I dont' think i'll be able to catch it in the other states (as it was, i would have had to fly to LA, but it would've been worth it, wanted to take the kids to see it)

Well, they did do a movie a few years ago, with uma thurman. It wasn't a musical, and it really is nothing like the musical, but it follows the story line pretty much if i remember right. I enjoyed it.

I saw that. Not too bad, but I'd love to get the music fix. Phantom wasn't bad, wish they'd picked better stars though. Oh well.

Les Miz is just my favorite musical! I got to see it on Broadway and I just bawled through the whole thing - not because of the story, but because I couldn't believe I was there.

My little cuz didn't tour with them cuz he went to Hollywood and was in the play the 10 Commandments with Val Kilmer! Yummy! Then he landed the Wildfire tv show ( starting season 3 very soon!)

My aunt makes him sing from Les Miz at holidays! He is awesome!

How Funny! I *just* came over here from reading the IOD blog, which I posted a comment about Les Mis. :) I'll copy & paste ...

*sigh*
Les Mis.
My fave, fave, fave Broadway show!
As I was reading your words, they were singing in my head. I need to dig out my soundtrack. :)

Speaking of Broadway - RENT, anyone?! Seasons of Love.
Amazing song! And, to see it performed live ...you'll need a tissue or two!

Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes,
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Moments so dear.
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure, measure a year?

In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights
In cups of coffee
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife.

In five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure
A year in the life?

How about love?
How about love?
How about love? Measure in love

Seasons of love. Seasons of love

Saw Rent in LA when it first opened there with Doogie Howser. My friend took, but I had no idea what I was getting into. LOL WOW! Loved it though! The movie they did was incredible too. I guess that's what I'd hope for if they ever made Les Mis into a movie. Seasons of Love is such an incredible song too. So nice to find some Broadway fans here!

Saw Les Miz 2x so far...but it's been about 10 years since the last time that I saw it. I own the soundtrack too. My DH did not like it! To be fair, he's not into musicals at all.

I'd like to see "Wicked" or at least read the books.

i've never seen it, but we sang the songs in high school choir. I really loved them!
