I scraplifted one of the templates because FotoFusion does not import layered files (drat) but it really is easy to do this and then I just saved as a FotoFusion template so I can reuse to my hearts content.

I plan to play with more of her templates, scraplifting them to be FF templates.

Jen, any interest in offering the FF templates on your site?

Darn, I thought you figured out how to import it into FF! I've been thinking about how cool it would be if it worked in FF too. We can dream though cant we;) ;)

hm... I have never even seen Foto Fusion before! Who makes it? Is it a free download or expensive? Do they have a template system?

Jen... you should go to their site. They had a free download at one time. My friend Katy was trying to make me switch to them..hehe I like some of the stuff they do! You should see how freakin' easy it is to make sketches...

Go to lumapix.com to download a free trial. In the program they have a folder called 'mattes'. You can import png shapes into this folder. If you are building a collage & add a photo (background paper) & give it a matte shape. Then it will be cut into that shape. I've found that the matte shape has to be black for this to work. I had some grey color shapes (similar to the grey color that you use) & I couldn't get it to work, but if I changed the shape to black it would work.
Other than the matte folder there is a template folder where you can design your own templates & install them. I never tried that but the Fotofusion yahoo group shares templates that they make.
I like the matte shapes myself because if you have a curvy template you can make the curvey shapes. I played with some of ScrapGirls templates before in FF.

Jen, FF is cheap for the standard version $39.99, I think. But it limits the exported file size (jpg, png, etc) to 2000x2000pixels. But if you are printing from within FF you can print up to 12x12 at 300dpi. The Pro version allows for files up to 13x19 300dpi. The studio version $$$ is unlimited in size and allows for multiple pages.

I'm one of the moderators for the yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/scrapbookfotofusion. But take a look at the LOs at www.fotoscraps.com which are all done in FotoFusion (FF) (there are a couple exceptions where FFusers have created kits outside of FF and are sharing them with FFusers - those shouldn't be there but hey, they're free so...). You can find mine as tlccreates (surprize!) but there are a lot of great LOs there by lots of different FFusers.

Mattes and Templates are definately great features in FF, its silly cause some people never get beyond the autocollage feature that FF is hyped about. The free trial software is the full program but you will not be able to "process" your LO (save as jpg, tif, etc) without it being covered with watermarks. You can email it, right from within FF, and you can save it as the native .collage format but you can't print it as a trial user. You may be able to make and save templates as a trial users though. File>save as template

Take a look, but be WARNED - it is very addictive LOL

here is what the template looks like in FF

cool! thanks for that!!!! So is it easy to convert one of my templates to a foto fusion template? is there like a magic wand to pick the pieces or something? I suppose I could try myself but I don't have time to download it today so will have to wait till this weekend to try it!

No magic wand. I just drew out empty photo frames in the shapes of your boxes, adjusted the border and shadow characteristics and added the text.

If your sketches have shapes other than the regular rectangle or circle (squares, ovarls) etc then it may be necessary to take the shape in ps and save it as a png and put it in the Mattes folder within FF (the mattes work like clipping masks but they really create little window cause the whole picture is still there even when you zoom in you can pan around and see the rest of the picture). You would then need to include that png file zipped up with the template so that users could put it in their mattes folder as well.

I will see about making up some more templates based on yours. When you are ready to play let me know and I can send you the files. Okay?

Here's another one of the templates turned into a FotoFusion template and a LO created from it. For this one I needed to create a FF matte for the torn strip so I used the tif file and copied the torn strip layer and created the matte from that. All the other shapes are from mattes that are part of FF.

My LO only uses 4 of the photos on the bottom whereas the template has 5
