View Full Version : Help with resizing and working with 12x12

Help please! I'm using Photoshop7. Say I want to make a card in size 5x7. All of my papers are 12x12. I tried to open a new document and make it 5x7. Then open my background paper and drag and drop it to the 5x7. When I do that, the image is huge and distorted.
How do I get the background to show up the same as it looks in 12x12? I know there has to be a way to do this by dragging and dropping.

What if you resize the paper to 8x8 or 7x7 and then drop it in? Just an idea. Hold the Shift key as you are sliding it over, and it will be perfectly centered.

I agree :D Resize you paper before you drag it over...just remember not to save the action ;)

When I resize the paper - it distorts the pattern unless I resize it at even proportions (8x8 7x7 etc). If I resize to 5x7 it squishes the design and doesnt look right.

You have to resize it to a square since that's how it was created. You will just lose whatever is hanging over the edges. If you just resize and don't change the DPI the pattern shouldn't be distorted. I do cards the same way.
