is more hard copies of digi scrapping magazines. aside from the one that ss does maybe twice a year. i like the ones online too, but i also like to read the mags at my leisure- away from the computer. that is why i am addicted to the paper scrapping mags as i can see the inspirational layouts, read the articles and have it right in my hands. then i can hideout in the bathroom and read it! hey, i have 6 kids here! sometimes that's the only place i can get away from it all!
i have printed out the online zines before but it takes up sooo much ink (plus pisses off my dh).
anyway, this was just a thought...

I agree with you Lisa! I buy paper scrap mag's like crazy just so I have something to do in my down time at work without having to always drag out the laptop (if I even bring it that day). In fact, I love to just browse through my paper mags right here at the computer.. even though I could just as easily read them on the computer... just something about it. And I also have a couple at a time that stay in my bathroom too :) Haven't resorted to draggin' the laptop in there... YET! ROFL!! Can you just see it?!

 I am totally with you on that. I love print mags and since the digi-community is so close-knit, I love that I can actually see my friends' names right there in print. And I'll even admit that the bathroom is probably one of the few places I can read a print mag too. :P I'm not about to take my laptop into the bathroom with me. Or will I?

I agree Lisa and I think its coming. In the scheme of things, Digital is so new. Jennifer and April have made a nice attempt and it will only get better as time goes by. The big players are noticing digital now (the dotscrap deal) but there are problems with that. It will just build and build. That’s why I love this site!

Oh, I am all for more mags. I agree, I save PDFs and then they sometimes sit in a folder on my computer for awhile because reading "files" is not the same as holding the thing in your hand. And I have yet to print any of the PDFs. Don't get me wrong, I love getting the PDFs too, but just not the same.

Oh yes, I would love to see that too. I wish it would happen soon. I am still chuckling at the thought of Shannon hidden in the bathroom with her laptop, heh, heh.

I just like to get as much out of a magazine as possible. Do you know how good scrap mags are for mod podging? SO GOOD!

I guess holding the digital magazines in our hands equates to the tactile sensations from traditional paper scrapbooking! :D

I completly agree. DMM is my favorite, and I would LOVE to see that one in print.

I sent an email to Simple Scrapbooks suggesting that they make the digital issues a regular thing like 4-6 times a year. They at least emailed me back thanking me for my suggestion. :)

That's a GREAT suggestion Katie! I also hoard every magazine - paper, digital - anything. Must have at least one scrapping mag in all major living areas - car, living room, bathroom, kitchen, next to laptop. Seriously. I WISH there was a monthly digital mag in hardcopy format. I'd buy it.

No laptops in the bathroom for me though. :)

What? I do this all the time. Are you saying that's not normal???

Edited to add... Yes, I'd love a printed mag. As much work travel as I do, I'd love to have something in hand!

I totally agree! I hate reading a mag on the computer...I just can't focus on it as well. I also would love to be able to tear out ideas.

Katie, thanks for doing this. I'm hoping to see more digital scrapbooking magazines in hard copy, as well.

I thought when Jennifer Pebbles and her crew started DMM ,they said they were going to eventually go to a hard copy one day. I think it's all a matter of getting enough digiscrappers to do things like that.

Thanks Kathryn, I will keep pestering them about it :D

I do agree that magazines are best enjoyed in hard copy. Nothing like flipping through pages and seeing lots of wonderful glossy pictures.

Probably seems funny coming from someone who writes a downloadable "e-book" style" publication each month (An Amazing Month of Memories) but in that case it is different. There are tons of links to follow and a lot of journaling prompts that you might want to copy and paste into your own creations. Plus you can print it out if you want.

But magazines with layouts in them - I need to see those in real life for sure!
I can't believe Simple Scrapbooks hasn't expanded this sooner, they obviously have an audience for it...didn't they get something like 600 submissions last time they put out a call for SS Digi 5?

I also thought Jen Pebbles mag was going to be in print also but I also know it is VERY hard to start a new magazine - they have a very low success rate.

i go nuts with so many at the store and tryiing to figure out what to buy! wish there were more digi - sigh.

here's my reading routine of a mag:

1)go through entire zine and read the names, see if i know them and look at their layouts
2)go through the entire zine and skim credits to see if anyone used mine (i hope those people that do get published know that they can email me the details and i send them a GC for being published!)
3)i then read the magazine from front to back. could take me about two weeks! LOL

i like to go through and look at all the layouts first dogearring all the ones i want to someday scraplift, and then go back and read any articles that intrest me!

i need to submit to some mags and use holly's stuff!

What Lisa???? You're not taking your laptop into the bathroom yet LOL!

ITA though- I would looooove a monthly digiscrapping magazine- I can't even imagine all of the work that would go into the whole printing/advertising side of it though.

Totally agree with you here! I have a long commute, and my husband & I 'carpool' so I need something to read while I'm being chauffered!

I think it'd be great to have more monthly or even bi-monthly print digi mags, too -- Between my sister (who paper scraps) and I, we hoard just about every scrapping mag that comes out each month :).

I agree, I like reading a paper magazine better than reading off the computer. I love putting my feet up on the couch to read - not the same when using a laptop.
