How do I color these stamps without them looking too dark?

If you have the .abr file installed in with your brushes you can just stamp them in whatever color you want to.

ETA - for sure if you are using the abr file...just make sure your color is in the foreground palette and go.


If you are using the png files, place the desired color in the foreground palette. I don't know the menu address, but somewhere you should have the option to Adjust Hue and Saturation...in pse 2 it was under Enhance/Adjust Color and in photoshop cs it is under Image/Adjustments. With your letter layer highlighted, select Adjust Hue and Sat and select the colorize option. Play with the sliders until you get the effect you desire. You may also want to play with brightness and contrast.
