Silly basic PS skill that I just don't know.
I want to cut a circle out of a piece of patterned paper, and keep the circle, not the leftover. How do I do that?

Once you've got your circle selected:
Go to> Select> click Inverse
Then hit delete
let me know if that didn't work! :)

In PSE 4 I simply use my 'cookie cutter' tool, select a filled circle shape & cut my paper/pic/etc. :)

OR - you can select the area you want to keep (marching ants), then select the layer your PP is on, and press ctrl-J. Your 'cut-out will then be placed on a new layer!
