Now that Cathy and Ali have digi cd's...do you think more major paper companies will begin to produce QUALITY digi products?

If so, what companies do you think will produce quality digi products?

What major paper companies now produce digi products?

Who are the up and coming designers you think will design digi for the paper companies-besides Rhonna Farrer?

Do you think oversees big name companies will emerge with quality digital products?

Do you think we'll see Becky Higgins on a PSE 6 box cover? :rofl2

What are your thoughts?

Wow...good questions. I can't imagine that digi will remain so independent forever. I'm sure some companies will start to get into the action. I'm not sure how much, though. I think there will always be independent designers just because the entry costs into the market are so low. Most people who digiscrap already have many if not all of the tools and programs required for designing.

Also, independent designers can keep up with the quickly changing styles of digiscrapping.

Interesting thoughts.

The only company I would be interested in buying a digi product from would be Basic Grey - and I actually have SO MUCH stuff in my stash that rivals them that I don't know if I'd actually do it or not ('cause you know it would be pricey, albeit quality for sure!).

I'm sure the paper market is struggling with how to get a piece of digi. I'm no business expert, LOL, but if I were them I wouldn't necessarily try to enter it thru the designing door - the market is oversaturated as it is and I would think that they would have to charge a lot in order to justify their "means". We have so much talent out here already in our digistores, I wouldn't pay big $$ just cause it's from a well-known co. But they should try to market some tools and albums for digiscrappers (like a paper cutter that actually cuts a straight line for longer than a week, more "display" items for our LO's and maybe a wider variety of albums) Heck, if they'd just slap a sticker on it that said "Created for the Digi-Scrapper" or "Digi-Scrap Friendly", you know we'd run out and buy it, LOL!

Good questions, Cindy. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I'm a little torn on this subject because while I would love to see some of the big names enter into the digital market and while I would love to see what they can offer us as digital scrappers, I just really don't know if I wanna take the chance on running the little guys out of business.
I would hate to see ANY of the awesome designers we have right now suffer from the big name companies coming in and trying to sell their goodies. I think I'd rather stick with my little guys - besides, look how many of these great ladies are already designing paper lines!

I think they will be getting in the market more and more I would love to see more products for displaying layouts. And wouldn't it be great for a beginner to be able to go to the LSS and buy a CD and software to get them started?

Ditto! I like the independant market better than the Super Wal-mart type companies....there is a more personal relationship, and the independant designers can move more quickly with service and trends. I think big companies will eventually come out with digi-lines...I'm thinking the small designers will go to one extreme or the other, either out out of business entirely, or the loyalty and quality and personal one on one relationships will thrive, and the big companies won't have much of a market.

Now that Cathy and Ali have digi cd's...do you think more major paper companies will begin to produce QUALITY digi products?Doubt it, if they do they're going to realize it's too much of a headache to keep up with and not worth the money for a big company

If so, what companies do you think will produce quality digi products? The companies that already have digital designers designing for them :yahoo

What major paper companies now produce digi products?Ummm.....CM?

Who are the up and coming designers you think will design digi for the paper companies-besides Rhonna Farrer? There's a long list somewhere of digital designers that already design for paper companies, I'll stick with those girls :D But Rhonna is super nice so Ill let her in my little world too :spin

Some have already signed on to the digi world bandwagon.

FotoFusion's new version 4 is now set up with companies like S-E-I, K & I Co, scrapjazz, clique, daisy ds, Rastar, etc. The software has direct links to digi kits and the kits have extra special features for use in FF. A photo frame may be tucked into and grouped with an envelope that you just drag and drop your photo onto the group that it ends up tucked in the envelope. Frames that you drop a photo onto and then adjust the aspect ratio and see the photo cropped as you do so, you can also adjust the width of the frame that is around the photo (1/2 inch wide frame, 3"wide frame etc) Some tags already have a text color and effect (grunge) assigned to them so all you have to do is type in your text. These kits are more expensive than what we are use to but there is extra layers of middle men and extra software needed to make them "smart frames". It is nice to be able to work up a LO with a kit and not have to pay for the kit until I am ready to export or print it. One purchase means continued access to that kit.

Another route for these paper manufacturers is that they can now sell paper scrapping kits that come with a CD of FFlite The paper scrapper opens FF and types in the code of the paper kit. That scrapper can then add text (font, color, size, etc choices) to a journalling mat, add a photo to a frame and crop it and then when they choose to print FF will assemble those elements on a sheet for printing, cutting and adding to the other elements in the paper scrapping kit.

this whole dotScrap alliance is still new and it will take time for more and more companies to come on board and get more of their kits into this format but I think this is a very interesting way to introduce paper scrappers to digi.

Don't worry, we can still use all of our wonderful digiscrap collections with this new FF version. :yahoo

As a LSS owner all I can say is I hope so!!!

I would LOVE for some of my fav companies to offer there designs on CD or something that I can sell in my store!

Infact, a brand new company Tinkering Ink. They sell the paper product and then everything on a CD for digi scrapppers. I think we will be seeing more of this. Here is a link I did with CD of theirs: Tinkering Ink LO (http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=79423&cat=all&ppuser=155)

Saw a presentation on the FF way and wasn't too excited about it. (Completely based on the way *I* scrap and the programs *I* use!! If you like FF go for it!!)

BUT...companies like Tinkering Ink who release digital verions of their paper product simultaneously will go far in my opinion. Don't give us another software package...give us graphics that go with your stuff and we will probably buy BOTH!! That's what I've been preaching for years and it's slow going, but I think it's coming around.

Edit...Jenn...great minds...:)

Now that Cathy and Ali have digi cd's...do you think more major paper companies will begin to produce QUALITY digi products?

Only if they already have digi designers on board, otherwise it will probably be No Name Brand quality coz they are only getting onto the bandwagon

If so, what companies do you think will produce quality digi products?

See above

Now that Cathy and Ali have digi cd's...do you think more major paper companies will begin to produce QUALITY digi products?Yes. The paper companies already work with digital designers (paper designs need to start somewhere!) but now they will be trying to figure out how to package those designs in a digital format.

If so, what companies do you think will produce quality digi products?Bazzill, Close to My Heart, Sandylion, S.E.I. (with dotscrapalliance), Karen Foster, IOW - companies that are established and could perhaps take a risk with digital.
What major paper companies now produce digi products? Not aware of any.

Who are the up and coming designers you think will design digi for the paper companies-besides Rhonna Farrer?I'm sure there are many already designing that I'm unaware of - but didn't Josie and her sister (of Iron Orchid Designs) just get signed with a paper company? I could be wrong on that one. Katie Pertiet's "Digital Date Stamp" collection was picked up by a paper company and transformed into a real stamp. (I thought that was so cool! But for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the company...) I also think Katie Pertiet, Meredith Fenwick, and Gina Miller just may create more designs for paper companies. I know there are tons of talented designers out there, so I'm sure we'll be hearing about their involvement eventually!

Do you think oversees big name companies will emerge with quality digital products?Hmmm. Overseas? Perhaps Australia or the U.K.?

Do you think we'll see Becky Higgins on a PSE 6 box cover? :rofl2That is too funny! Now if she had a CD of her templates, I'd probably buy it! :)

Even if the big names of the paper world tried to slip into digi I don't think I would buy much of their stuff. I love that I "KNOW" the designers, share stories of their lives, and are just everday, living paycheck to paycheck kinda people. It's just nice that this is such a personal community and I can't imagine it being any other way:wub
