I'd love to have PSE 4.0 on my EHD so I can take it with me.
Can it be done?

BArb - I don't think so (but I'm not altogether 100% sure). MAybe someone with more knowledge will check in and answer better than me! You can always ring Adobe and find out - they are pretty helpful!

I think, it could be done, but they recommend that you don't do it. I'm not sure of the exact reasoning for it though. Maybe someone else can chime in.

I run photoshop off of an EHD, but you do have to install it to the computer itself for it to work - it puts it in the start menu and what not, but when you install just choose the EHD as the drive to save it to (I think the default is c/Photoshop or something like that). So, when I take off my EHD photoshop won't work, but it still shows it in the start menu. It's not ideal, but it at least limits the amount of hard drive space it takes up on the computer itself.
edited to add: it does run slower this way, that might be why they don't recommend it
