DD1 had 4 hunts this year and it surprised me when the one they did at school used real eggs (ones they had dyed the prior day)...but I guess some were from a class that day b/c DD got one that was still wet lol

I've never saved the plastic eggs from previous years but we have sooo many it seems like a waste to throw them all away.

I use plastic eggs. I just toss them because I cant stand finding them all over the house and they are only a few dollars to replace each year!

Hee hee, Susan!

DS and I dyed 3 dozen eggs Easter morning just because he loves doing them so much, last year we only hunted for stuffed plastic eggs at Grandma and Grandpa's. I'd also stuffed 4 1/2 dozen plastic eggs this year. Well, only one other little cousin was there and he was having a no-nap meltdown, so we didn't even end up having an egg hunt and they wouldn't even take some home! :( 2 dozen of the real eggs went to the cousin's dog who gets one with his food. The other 54 plastic eggs I guess I'll dole out one a day to my little boy for the next month and a half!

We used real eggs - Melissa had no idea that real eggs cracked and we had a few that didn't survive the hunt!! We have used plastic eggs for the past 2 years and this was the first year with real eggs. She was actually disappointed cuz she wanted to keep the eggs and play with them and was MAD when people started eating them! LOL!

Where is the choice for real chocolate easter eggs? LOL I hid some for my nephew and niece and we couldn't find them all afterwards - I guess I hid them too well! ROFL

OH NO!!!! I forgot to put the eggs back in the refrigerator after the hunt, so 2 dozen eggs - down the proverbial tube!!! Mike is going to be bummed at me - he was looking forward to egg salad sandwiches!

We had 4 hunts as well. We empty out all the plastic eggs after Easter morning and store them in the attic for next year. I can't stand replacing them when he have so MANY. I have not bought new eggs since DS#1 was one year old. He's 5 now.

I use plastic and I toss em every year. I have enough stuff, I dont need a box of Easter eggs. They are so cheap, I just buy new ones. That and DS usally break about half of them.

We only use the plastic ones... im weird about food and don't want DD eating something that might be bad, or contaminated... (worrier!) and I usually keep most of the eggs afterwards...

DD tends to like to make her own hunts over and over throughout the next month or two and sometimes year round with herself and friends... Something to keep her busy...

We did this when we were little, grandma had a basket of eggs in a closet and any time that some of the grandkids were there, we hid the eggs in their big backyard (year round) and that would keep us busy for hours, while the parents visiting with the relatives....

Could be used for scavenger hunts etc throughout the year, kids love it!

Well normally I just toss stuff like plastic eggs, but a few years ago I found some really unique eggs and have saved them to be reused simply becuase I have never found them again and my kids LOVE them!

I tell them to put the emptied out eggs back into the ziploc bag for the Easter Bunny to use next year and they think that sounds like a great explanation, lol.

(BTW, the eggs are little footballs, soccer balls and basketballs - perfect for 3 boys, lol)

Here is what I love about re-using... Lexi got an entire grocery bag FULL of eggs this yr from our family's hunt, and we just opened all the eggs and sent them back to the "Easter Bunny" for next year... that way I dont have a million of those awful plastic eggs floating around my house for the next 6 mos! LOL! Does anyone else besides me hate those?? lol

We had real eggs and some resin eggs. I've been hiding them all week because we decorated them a week early. So she got a lot of practice (LOL!) BUt then we had a "real" hunt in the park. It was a lot of fun to watch Sofi find the eggs!

After the kids have found the plastic eggs, we quickly open them all and put the eggs in a big bag for next year.

We just hide them while the kids are waiting in the kitchen, so they don't think the Easter bunny is getting the plastic eggs back LOL!

I also reuse the grass stuff- I just tie it up in a plastic bag and put it with the eggs. :)

BTW- growing up we just hunted for chocolate eggs like someone else had mentioned. My grandma always hid them at her house and we would hunt for them after dinner. Well- except for the ONE year when her and my mom got on a health kick and all we got that year was FRUIT- yes that's right- apples and oranges- ROFLOL!!!
