I know there is an answer to my question.
When I purchase brushes, I unzip them.
Then, I move them to a file in my documents which I labeled "BRUSHES".
Now, I open PSE 3.
I open the file
Sometimes, a brush will open.
Sometimes a different brush won't open.
What am I doing wrong?

It could be that the files were created in CS2 which may be why they don't work in PSE3. I'm just guessing. If there is a png file included you can create your own brush from that.

FLCindy - I have PSE4 and I have a folder labeled "Brushes" as well. When I want to use a particular brush I open the brush palette and then click on load brushes, then go to my "Brushes" folder and load the brush I want. When you want your other brushes back just go back to the brushes palette and reset your brushes.
Hope that helps :)

and, if you're really lazy (like me)... in pse 4.0, you can just open the png file, select all, edit - define brush from selection. done. :)

If you want the brush to always show up in the drop down list, you have to put it in the brushes folder in your program folder. Putting it in a separate folder makes it accessable, but you will have to load the brush when you want to use it.
I hope I understood your question.
