Ok, 48 days until the movie and 56 until the book.
What theories do you have? What's going to happen? What would you like to see happen?
I really love Harry and Ginny so they are a must along with Hermoine and Ron. Snape is not evil...something to his story.

Movie:
I honestly don't care what happens as long as the movie is filled with Snapey goodness. There better be a BUNCH of pensieve action going on. In fact, if they want to make a movie called "Severus Snape & the Alphabetization of the Potions Storeroom"?
I'm THERE.
Oh, and let's have some good Luscious Malfoy as well. I'm bored of these children. :lol
Book:
Snape is NOT EVIL. Even if Rowling makes it so, I will not accept it. The Snape in my mind is not a bad guy. :wub

A little Snape infatuation there Christy ;)
BOOK:
I think there is something up too ~ I think Snape is really on the good side. And I think (hope) that SOMEHOW Dumbledore is still alive. It is all a trap for the dark wizards!
MOVIE:
Please make it 4 hours long so we don't miss anything!!!! The Order of the Phoenix was such a great book with so many important details.
THOUGHT/QUESTION:
Do people who haven't read the books understand the movies like those who have been completely immersed in them?

Oh, I am soooo excited for Book 7! The movies are fun and all, but they just aren't the same as the books. Although I love Snape in the movies - and Lucius! Great actors! :) I think I could hang out with Christy because we are totally thinking alike on these guys! :lol
We are still in mourning over the events of Book 6 so I'm hoping I can cope with Book 7 :lol

THOUGHT/QUESTION:
Do people who haven't read the books understand the movies like those who have been completely immersed in them?
Definitely not.
I saw the first two movies before I read the books, and I was totally bored. I didn't know any of the background info, and I couldn't have cared less about any of the characters.
My daughter is a HUGE fan, and begged me for years to read the books, but I had no interest. I even had the first book sitting on my bookshelf since it first came out (a friend read it and gave it to me to read, but I had no interest).
Jennifer finally got to me by telling me that she really wanted me to read it so we could discuss the characters. I felt like such a bad mom, and finally started the book just to appease her. WELL...I read it straight through...couldn't put it down. The next morning, I called my daughter to tell her I read it and I LOVED it, and she was so excited, she came over later that day with a boxed set of all the books for me. LOL
Jennifer's 2nd baby is due right smack in between the next book and the next movie, and we've already worked out who will go stand in line for the book if she's in labor. She *THINKS* that she'll be standing in line at midnight if the baby hasn't arrived yet.
Here's a layout I made of my granddaughter Bella at a Harry and the Potters concert last summer:

Yes, Yes, Yes! I so agree. I was disapointed in a few of the movies compared to the books. I will sit for 4 hours to watch it!
And I agree that Snape is good and am hopeful for Dumbledore too! My husband and I have a bet going on snape, he is so gonna lose!

Eeeek! I love that countdown... and hate that countdown! I really want to finish rereading the books before book 7 comes out! I just adore these books and don't want them to end EVER!!
As for my thoughts, I do think Snape is ultimately a good guy. I don't think he is perfect, and it wouldn't surprise me if he struggles to be a good guy and thus does some bad things. But I think he will be revealed to be good overall.
As for cute... I have to remind myself that Daniel Radcliff is just a teenager. :blush

We were on vacation on the east coast when book 4 came out. We had preordered (2 copies :) ) and it was going to arrive at our house while we were gone. Well, my 12 year old (at the time) daughter was just beside herself because she wasn't going to get her book until the DAY AFTER it was released.
I just so happened that we were in NYC on the weekend and there was a HUGE release party in Times Square with a big count down clock and everything. We bought her copy in the Toys R Us in Times Square and she had it for the trip home. (I sold the copy we preordered to a friend)
SO - in my scrapbook for that trip I have a fun LO with the release party and her getting one of the last copies of the book in the store (the shelves behind her in the picture are bare). It sure made the release of that book much more memorable for her.
I would share the LO here - but it is a paper scrapped one :)

HUGE fan here (of the books - the movies are okay and I love the actors, but they just pale next to the books).
My thoughts...
Dumbledore IS dead - part of the sacrifice for the cause and Snape did kill him - and that was how they had planned it way beforehand, should the situation present itself, which unfortunately, it did. Snape is not evil and it will be very interesting to (hopefully) get more of his past to see what turned him around.
What concerns me is that 2 main characters are going to die. I'm going with Voldemort as being one (it's either him or Harry and I just don't believe that Rowling will let evil prevail!). As to the other, I just don't know. Maybe Ron? I can't believe it would be Ginny or Hermione. How about Snape?
My DH will be out of town when the book comes out - I must get a babysitter for a good block of time to get the bulk of it read that day!!

I'm sooooooooooooooooooooo excited for both movie and book!!! :clap
I just read the coolest theory the other day on a Facebook group about Harry Potter. It's long and complicated but the guy is suggesting that in Chapter 2 of Half-Blood Prince when "Snape" takes the Unbreakable Vow, it's not actually Snape but Dumbledore pretending to be Snape (à la Polyjuice Potion I guess). Might sound like an odd theory but when you read why he would have done this it makes perfect sense. I'm not sure I buy it but I have to say he presents loads of evidence to back it up and it's really quite convincing.
But I'm afraid to go into details here in case anyone might consider it more of a spoiler than a theory. Some of my friends don't like reading big long detailed theories like this in case they turn out to be true. :lol
I'm happy to elaborate for any conspiracy-theory-lover who's interested though :D

I took my kids to see Pirates yesterday and one of the first things said when we got back in the car was, "so when does the new Harry Potter movie come out?" It's going to be on IMAX here!
I read all of the books that were out at the time after I saw the movie. I've since downloaded them all on iTunes and listen to them while I'm digiscrapping on playing games on the internet, or driving to school, etc.The guy who reads them, Jim Dale, is awesome! You die hard fans should try it. I listen to them over and over!
I definitely think Rowling will redeem Snape. Don't get me wrong, I still think he's a hateful you-know-what, but I do think he's working for the good side. And yes, I think Dumbledore knew all along that Snape would be the one to kill him.
Does anyone know of a really great Harry Potter digi kit? Does anyone want to make one? lol Or can't they because of copyrights, etc?

And, yes, Alan Rickman & Jason Isaacs are my 2 favorite actors. I love them with much....much......loving. :blush

I can't wait for the book and the movie to come out (although, the movies do pale beside the book, they still are pretty awesome!). I'm currently rereading- 1/2 way through book 5. Book 6 is the only one I haven't read at least 3 times (I've only read it once). I HOPE that Snape isn't evil...and I hope that Harry doesn't die!!! One of the theories that I heard though, right after Book 6, was that BOTH Voldemort and Harry would die in the final confrontation- I hope not!

We are BIG HP fans here- my 17 yr old started when the "Chamber oif Secrets" (book) came out, and now our 8 yr DD is EHAVILY into the books and movies! We're so lucky they are haiving an extravaganza in one of our small towns about 40 minutes form us the night of the last book release. It's a street festival and all-= you can bet I will be taking pix! IT's going to be a great July!
My thoughts are: Snape is good, Dumbledore IS dead, but may be back in supernatural ways, and I don't think JK will kill Harry......

I have one (above) and I worked with Disney's legal department until it we were both happy. I had emailed them the previewxs when I first made it, but had to change up a few things before selling it. In the original, the animals/mascots are on the house shields, but I had to separate those and leave it to the customer to put the animals on the shields. I also added white and purple colros and animals to the mix so that it would have a scope wider than that of Harry Potter, and left the badger out of it- used a centaur instead. So it's not truly a Harry Potter kit, but might apppeal to fans of things *magical and wizard-like*! The rest was fine- so it's all legal! I sure am glad I took the time to get that straightened out though!

I hadn't thought of polyjuice potion. I thought something along the same lines where there was something in the wine that would null the unbreakable vow.
Do we get to read about some weddings i.e. Bill and Fleur and maybe Tonks and Lupin. I just love Lupin.
When are we going to see Dumbledore in his Headmaster's Portrait? Is he going to help out that way? I wonder if Hogwarts will be open or not. Harry not going back would just be so sad.
Lastly, I think Neville is in the crux of this too. More to him than we know.

Just thought I'd throw a tidbit of info in here...
Every year, I go to Wal-Mart at midnight and wait maybe 15 minutes tops, and getting a copy of the newest book is easy and cheap. A friend who attended a Barnes and Noble party called me and said she hadn't even gotten a ticket to GET her book by then. I know some of you may hate Wal-Mart, but for this, it's been worth it for me.

Barnes & Noble.com delivers the day of release as well. This is how we have ordered the last few books. No waiting in line :) But, I KNOW they are at the post office the day before and that drives me nuts!!! My mailman told me that UPS delivers the books to the post office for final delivery and they are delivered at least the day before, sometimes two days early.

I'm re-reading 5 and 6 in preparation for this summer. I got hooked on the books when I was living in London when book 4 was released. I went on a day tour that day and met a woman from Australia who was backpacking through Europe. She was willing to sacrifice 15 pounds of her limited cash and x amount of space in her back pack for this book - I figured it had to be good....
I love the books so much better than the movies because they are so much richer... There is no way the movies have enough screen time to recreate the magic and the world that is Harry Potter.
For Book 7 - my only theories are that Dumbledore's brother is the one that is going around and finding/destroying the seven pieces of Voldemort. And Snape will be redeemed and involved with the final confrontation with Voldemort - will probably die though. I don't think Rohlwing will kill Harry...but I think some of the Weasleys, Neville, McGonagall, or Hermione may die...

Dumbledore IS dead - part of the sacrifice for the cause and Snape did kill him - and that was how they had planned it way beforehand
I saw an interview with J.K. Rowling and basically said that Dumbledore really is dead and we all need to start working through the stages of grief and get past the denial - It was very funny the way she said it, but I am having a hard time doing that! :lol I totally cried during a lot of Book 6! (not ashamed to admit this)
I also LOVE listening to the audio books. Jim Dale has really brought the books to life for me. My son and I just started the whole series over again on audio book so we can be brushed up for Book 7.
We have also read all of the theory books like this one

Oh, and I don't think Harry is a horcrux because I think Voldy knows where his horcruxes are and I don't think he would try to kill one of them. As much as he hates Harry, he wouldn't trade his immortality for anything. Just my opinion :lol

Do you think that maybe he inadvertantly made harry one without knowing it? Also...I don't think snape is bad either. Remember when Dumbledore sounded pleading (for the first time throughout the ordeal) when he said Severis...right at the end. If you hang out on 2Peas, be careful what messages you open after the release of the last book. Within a day of the last book release of someone posted all kinds of scrapbook topics only the message inside was a spoiler that Dumbledore had died.

Don't want to imagine Harry dying, that would mean no more books and movies???? His life after Hogwarts needs to be very interesting too, don't you think?
He and Ginny need to get a couple of kids that follow their parents footsteps, so more books and movies :)
I was very disappointed in the movies, because I read the books first and expected more. 3 was the worst, 4 got the old style again fortunately. But I was looking forward to seeing Bill, but as far as I know, not even a glimpse! Some events happened completely different in the book than in the movie, so strange. Like that thing with the Gillyweed, and I think that was just essential, because Harry didn't ask Neville anything, in the book.
Looking forward to both though!

JKR has been very explicit - this will be the last Harry Potter, no sequels, prequels, nothing else (by her anyway.) Which kind of leaves the rest of the story after book 7 to the imagination of the readers. (Remember imagination? It's what we did before everything good was made into a movie. LOL) I'm not knocking the movies - some things, like the ending of Book 4, are better in the movie IMHO. Also parsing down the plot to eliminate extraneous characters like Winky the House Elf (and maybe Hagrid's half-brother Grawp) is a pretty good idea. In my opinion, if you see the movie you must read the book, but not necessarily the other way around.
