Oooh how exciting!!! What fun to be Queen for a Day, thanks Rachael! :)
Answers to questions as follows:
Aside from scrapbooking, what creative outlets do you have?
Are you joking?! Aside from scrapbooking, designing and taking photographs of anything and everything, I have NO time to do any other creative activity at all! LOL I used to draw, paint and sew a little bit, but that is sort of emcompassed in my designing work now, so basically scrapping takes over my entire life!
What is your favourite thing to wear:
Jeans, t-shirt and my scruffy but oh-so-comfortable trainers. I'm such a style guru :lol
What is your least favourite household chore:
IRONING. I hate it with a passion. There have to be no wearable clothes in the house for me to get the ironing board out.
Share your "designer story". How did you get started?
By accident really! I wanted a specific type of paper element for a layout I was working on, only I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere. In the end I decided it would be quicker to make it myself than trawl every digi-shop on the net! I ended up making a few different things and put them on my blog as a freebie. Although I didn't really have any plans to design more at that stage, Amy then invited me to sell at The LilyPad and well, that was an offer that was too good to refuse!
Who is YOUR favourite designer right now?
OMG there are so many. All the fantastic girls I CT for of course, that goes without saying! And I am addicted to Anne deJong's (http://www.***************************/shop/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=6) paper elements and everything that Sylvie aka Sausan Designs (http://www.scrapbookgraphics.com/xcart/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=14) makes, and Nicole Pols (http://www.thedigishoppe.com/shop/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=42) (Windgefluester) fab designs... I could go on and on.... Oh and watch out for Rachel Young (http://rachelyoung.typepad.com/my_weblog/) too, she's going to be the next big thing!!

LOL Thanks Darcy!
Yes, everything is hand drawn and coloured to begin with - then scanned and digitally "tweaked". The whole process works quite well for me at the moment as I can sit and draw with my DD while DS has his nap, then play on the computer in the evenings.
It still takes a looooong time to make a doodle pack though!

Congratulations, Kate! You are so deserving of this:) Not only are you a truly unique designer, but your LO's are also always so amazing and meticulously detailed... so fun to look at. My question to you is this: how long does it normally take you to make a LO, and are they ever made in one sitting?! LOL!

My question to you is this: how long does it normally take you to make a LO, and are they ever made in one sitting?! LOL!
Umm, the short answer is I don't know how long it takes me! LOL I never sit down and make one from start to finish, I usually grab ten minutes here and there throughout the day, and then finish it off in the evening when the kids are in bed. A good guess would be about 2-3 hours though depending on how planned out it is in my head before I start!
More questions please, I'm enjoying this!!!

:wave Hi Kate!
1. What is your favorite doodle pack that you've created?
2. What is your favorite type of candy?
3. Do you wear make-up on a 'normal' day? If so, what?
I'll try to think of more! :D
Lauren
06-15-2007, 06:46 AM
Kate, you are always my queen! :notworthy
Now what do I want to know... ummm, why you called yourself the queen! ;) And do you live in one of those typical little villages that I am so UK-sick for right now? :lol

Yea Queen Kate!! Soak up the sun girl you rock!

Oooh more questions, goodie goodie!
From Gina:
1. I think my favourite doodle pack is Vehicles Doodles I, just because it was the first one I ever did and found my doodling "style" with!
2. Candy? Do you mean sweets?! hee hee Definitely chocolate, in any shape or form. I'm a bit of a chocoholic...quite a lot of a chocoholic actually....
3. Normal make-up is mascara and lipgloss. Can't leave the house without them! Other than that I don't really wear much makeup, unless I'm trying to take a self portrait photo then I pile it on! :lol
From Lauren:
1. Ah yes. DigiScrappingQueen is an in-joke with some paper scrapping friends of mine. It was a nickname created by a few of them (I was the only digi-scrapper) and it just stuck! I just realised it probably sounds really arrogant.... It's meant to be tongue-in-cheek - British humour and all that!!
2. Nope, I live in a town now, but I used to live in a very quaint little village, with a village green with a duck pond and a couple of gorgeous little pubs. Has that made you feel even more Brit-sick?!

1. It doesn't sound arrogant to me. You ARE the queen! But I just always wondered how you got the name. :lol
2. Yes, that's done the job!! Just remind me about house prices and 60 million people in a country the size of my garden. Ok, not quite. But close. ;)
Ok, I have a new very important question... Do you like Jaffa Cakes? Can you send me some? Preferably the M&S variety! Actually, just send me their whole sweets section. That'll do nicely! :rofl2

Woohoo, Kate! Congrats!
My question is, your layouts always combine so many elements in a unique way. How do you decide what to place where? Do you have some kind of process or is it just random trial and error?
Di-ahh
06-15-2007, 07:36 AM
Ok now the hard hitting question! :lol3
If you were a fruit, what kind of fruit would you be? And why.

Kate, you told me to only say nice things... you know how difficult that can be for me LOL
I have a question that is so silly and I keep meaning to ask and then feel silly asking but here is Q and A time with Kate so I'm gonna do it
Why whatkatiedid? where did that come from? I always thought it was such a cute username!
Do you say knickers?
Will you come visit me?
Does your husband dream about me in color or in B/W ;) LMAO

Err, no, no process, it is just random trial and error. I just throw them all on there and move them round until I like how it looks! Going away from the layout and then coming back to it is helpful too - sometimes it's easier to see when something is "wrong" when you haven't looked at it for a while.
Ok now the hard hitting question! :lol3
If you were a fruit, what kind of fruit would you be? And why.
:think hhmmmmm, now this is a real toughie..... a banana I think, for no apparent reason! I just like the word "banana"!

Ok, whatkatiedid comes from the children's books What Katy Did and What Katy Did Next (I used to read them when I was little, most peope called me Katy rather than Kate then too). The change in spelling came when I first registered at a forum and found that somebody else had the nerve to chose "WhatKatyDid" before me!
I do say "knickers". I say it often and I say it proud.
I would love to come and visit you!!
I refuse to answer the last question, because I refuse to ask my hubby because he will start telling me how wonderful you are again. (Yes, my DH has a crush on Ash, he even sneaked on my Hello to talk to her).
P.S. Congratulations on managing to be nice to me for the whole post, well done :)

Yeah! Kate is Queen! Congrats Kate!
I'm full of questions today and they are totally selfish!
1) When are you going to do those drink doodles (you know, martini glass, margarita glass, lime wedge, beer mug, etc) that rachael and I so want? ;)
2) When are you having a guest or CT call?
3) Have you ever considered doing sports doodles?
See I told you they were all purely selfish questions! :)

4. how many times have you been published?
1. Jelly babies: yes! Flying saucers: yes! Cadbury's Buttons: oh yes!!
2. Favourite American saying is definitely "Rawking!" - it makes me smile every time I see it. I'm not sure I have a least favourite, I just have lots that I don't understand, I spend a lot of time in the fourms doing this: :think??! There are also some words that mean very different things here then they do in the States, that always confuses me (doesn't take much I admit...)
3. I think you should all adopt the word "snigger". It seems to make everyone laugh when I use it!
4. I have been published a few times in UK mags, and in DAM of course :)
