Oh my goodness!! This was such a surprise!! Thanks so much! Ok, so here's my answers to the 5 random questions!
1. Aside from scrapbooking, what creative outlets do you have?
I am a portrait photographer, and I love creating art for my clients with their images. I love every part of the process, from taking the portraits, to editing them and working them up in Photoshop, to creating digi scrap layouts and storyboards for wall art. I just love it. I can't believe I get paid to do something I love so much. It's a God thing. He just blesses me so much!
2. What is your favorite thing to wear?
Pajamas. LOL. My next choice would be jean capris and a white t-shirt. I would wear that every day if I could.
3. What is your least favorite household chore?
You mean besides, all of the above? Probably my absolute LEAST favorite chore would be getting the kids to do their chores. It's so frustrating.
4. Share your "designer story". How did you get started?
Well, I actually got into digi scrapping because I was looking for commercial use items to make storyboard and invite/announcements for my clients. At the time, there wasn't as much stuff available for commercial. But I ended up loving the scrapping so much, I didn't care. So I scrapped. That was last November. I haven't looked back. I was accepted onto my first CT by Claudia Cochran at HODS. She was so wonderful and gave me my first shot. Then shortly after I was accepted by Angela Sharrow for her CT. And then like a week later, I joined Maria LaFrance's CT. All of these ladies are just fantastic, and took a chance on a newbie. I really appreciate all they did for me to get me going.
Then in January 07, Claudia asked me if I wanted to contribute to the store's Mega Kit for Valentine's day. I had been playing around with making some papers anyway, so I said sure, why not. And it just kind of grew from there. After that first mega kit contribution, Claudia let me joint the design team at HODS. A few months after that, I was invited to join the design team at OAKS. And I love it so much. I have to admit, it takes up a lot of my time, and I should learn to manage my time better, but I'm having a blast. I love to see my stuff being scrapped with, and all the people I've met have been so wonderful! And I now have my own Guest CT, who are doing a fantastic job for me.
5. Who is YOUR favorite designer right now?
Oh gosh I have soooo many favorites. If I had to pick only one, I would probably say Jen Wilson. But if I could name more than one, I would say: Jen Wilson, Emily & Angela Powers, Shabby Jen, Shabby Princess, Faith True, Karah Fredericks, Corina Neilson, Shandy Vogt and Maria LaFrance. These are the cream of the crop for me.
If any of you lovely ladies need me for your CTs, please do not hesitate to contact me!!! The answer would be a big fat LOUD YESSSSS!!
Thanks for letting me Queen for the Day, I love tiaras! Bring on the questions, and I hope you enjoy my gallery! And of course, spend lots of money in my stores!!!
loving it,

Hey Sara, thanks for the question!
I would have to say, my mostest favoritest kit I have is Paris in April. It has my favorite colors in it, and I love the shabby frames and things in it. And the papers are by far my favorite too. It is a fair representation of what I would like my "style" to be as far as designing. I have a funky side, which you'll see in my upcoming Scrapz Sack (hint, hint) but I really prefer a shabby chic, vintage, romantic styling. Here's some previews . . .

And of course, this was my first set of Scrap-a-Patches, just LOVE those. Working on a new set soon.

Love these old metal photo corners too. Nice and shabby.
I also love my newest kit, the Mr. and Mrs. Kit, it's a wedding kit, and has some of the most adorable elements.

Woohoo congrats Dale Ann, you deserve it :)
Question: What is the biggest mistake often made by taking photo's.
DaleAnn - DC Designs
06-22-2007, 01:46 PM
Hi Ingeborg, thanks for the great question. I would say the biggest mistake most people make in taking photos, is they don't get close enough to their subject. People tend to stay back, and they end up with a lot of background clutter. I prefer close-ups. Right in your face! That way I can see into your eyes, and maybe get some emotion in my shot. Don't be afraid to get close to your subject, it will make a much better picture.
Now as a professional, the biggest mistake I make is forgetting to change my settings when my lighting changes. I shoot outside in natural light a lot. And sometimes the sun will go behind the clouds for a bit, and it takes me a while to remember, uh, I need to change my settings! DUH! I've missed some really great shots like that.
Thanks for the great question, Ingborg!

What are your favorite subjects to scrap? Also, any secrets on getting toddlers to cooperate with photo shoots...aside from candy and duct tape? LOL

Yay, more questions!!
Sue, I think more than anything I would like to learn how to make realistic ribbons and bows. Curly ribbons, folded ribbons, and any kind of bow. I really cannot figure out how to do those things. I finally broke down and bought some actions this week. But I wish I could do it myself.
Kara, I think my most favorite layout would have to be a tie between these two.

Now, my favorite LO I've ever seen here at DST would be this one . . . this is "This Little Light of Mine," by Gina Carlin. It just moves me. It's so simple, and yet so emotional. I love it. Later in the story, Gina agreed to be on my Guest CT!!! Hooray!

Korib, those are two great questions. My favorite things to scrap are my two kids. Jackson and Camryn. I cannot get enough of their faces!
Here are two of my favorites of them.
A Magic Moment see credits here (http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=117614&cat=all&ppuser=3676).

And the question about photographing toddlers . . . that's a great one. I don't think anyone knows the answer to that! But I've found the most success with just letting them be themselves and not try to pose them. Just follow them around, and shoot shoot shoot. You're bound to catch some great expressions, and total sweetness at some point! Here's a couple favorite LOs of some toddler clients of mine.
