Okay...I'm not sure why I'm having this problem and I hoping that someone might be able to help me a bit :)

I'm trying to create a new banner for my blog....When I drag my background paper to my new image, the paper changes. The normally narrow stripes on the paper become bigger (almost stretched out looking) and you can see the texture of the paper very clearly....

This is what it looks like before.....

and after I drag the paper....

How do I get the background to not change.....I have my banner set at 300 dpi, so I know that's not the reason.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help!! :)

Maybe they are being viewed at different percentages. I normally work at 22% or 25%, but when I open up a paper it's usually smaller. Hope that makes sense. After you drag it in your new document you can always resize it down and see if you like it that way. I usually click on the corner of the paper (if you can see it in your LO) and resize using the percentages up along the top. Or you can also resize by doing Edit --> Transform --> Scale

btw...the "after" image doesn't really look stretched out, it just looks enlarged and then you can see the texture on the paper.

Check that banner resolution. It looks like the resolution of the paper is likely 300 and the resolution of the banner is 72. This will happen if you drag items of into a layout of a different resolution. You can either: Resample the paper to be the resolution of the layout before you put it in there. For example, change it to 72 dpi at 12 x 12 or resize it to be the correct size after you drag it in. The first option is easier, but, you have to remember NOT to save the low resolution file over top of the higher resolution file when closing it.
