scanning pics at high enough res. and BIG enough to scrap??

i only converted to digital pics in the last 1.5 years- so i have tons of pre-digi pics to scrap. i have a scanner but don't know how to scan all these 4x6 pics at high enough resolution and big enough to allow for cropping or full-size layouts. any help on scanning??

I read somewhere to scan them at 600dpi for a good resolution. I think it was in one of Cathy Zielske's books. Hope that helps you out! It worked well for me :)

yep, I can confrim that 600 dpi should be great to enable enlarging

I'm not much help, but I just use the maximum settings allowed lol.

thank you all! i'm going to try it at 600 then. and then when i put it on my layout, it will be double the normal size right? Since my layouts are 300 dpi.
