I see we haven't had one of these posted in a few weeks, so I'm going to post one and hope no one minds. I was thinking yesterday about weeds, LOL. When up close they really are quite pretty, yet we call them weeds. Why is that? Anyway, I challenge you to go take a closeup of a weed from your area and post it here. Give the weeds their just dues and let them shine! (Mine is the noxious of weeds -- the thistle.)

Weeds are really just the plants we don't want there! A weed to you or me might be a beautiful plant to someone else! I know I have tons of weeds in my yard! I'll have to grab the camera and see what I can find!

I agree Julie. I always crack up when I travel to other places in the country and find people carefully cultivating a plant that in my home town would absolutely be a weed, LOL. Yet I do the exact same thing, try to grow things that aren't always native to my area. Human nature, we always want what we can't have I think.
Even in my own gardens, any flower that is "taking over" it's space gets pulled and either given away or thrown in the weed pile. But I won't tell you how many years it took me to get to that point. Now if I could just have the same attitude about all those digital pictures I've taken that I will never use...just can't quite hit delete yet.

LOL I hear ya!! My front yard is at that point but my backyard seems to be one big weed! One of these days.
Oh and are we allowed to delete digital pictures? LOL that's just something I have problems with!!

My weeds are ugly. But then again so are my 1/2 dead plants LOL.

I live close to old Route 66 in Illinois which is now a 2-lane highway. To the east of the road is a railroad track and they no longer keep the area between the road and track mowed... a perfect area for taking pictures of weeds! :agree Some of these I know... others I have no idea.
Even when its finished blooming, its still an interesting subject, the thistle.

And yes, I know this isn't a weed. :eek But they were everywhere in the weeds this morning and once I realized it I just about had a heart attack hoping I hadn't accidentally gotten one on me! :eek :lol

As much as I love your weed pictures, that spider picture is awesome! I don't know what some of your weeds are either, but I think they are pretty, great photos!

I LOVE that spider picture!!
Mine is not an actual weed, but apparently we are not good enough to keep even weeds alive because our lawn is 1111% dead brown.
This is from one of our trees, and is totally overgrown so I'm calling it a weed ROFL!
I'm VERY new to my DSLR (4 weeks I think??) so I'm forcing myself to go manual and play!! I'm trying to work on getting bokeh. No awards for my pics or anything yet ROFL, but I'm getting there!

This was at 1/30, f/5.0, ISO 800. Is that the right way to say it ROFL?
And if you have any suggestions please tell me! :)

I'm no Photographer, I use a Kodak Z740. I took these pics of weeds in our pasture.
