Default NSBR: "energy drinks" and kids????

So I let my 6 year olds twins pick a bottle of pop to share as a treat when we were at the grcoery store. I didn't realize until we were in the car and they gave me the bottle to open, that they had gotten Mountain Dew MDX- an energy soda with ginseng, taurine, guarana, d-ribose, and malto dextrin. I don't plan on letting them buy it again, but can't decide if sharing one bottle will be dangerous. I googled the ingredients, but couldn't really figure it out. They are super disappointed and they are waiting on me to make a decision. . . so if you know anything about these, I'd appreciate. THanks!!

LMAO, I let my 9 year old have one a few months ago and she was BOUNCING off the walls for about 7 hours!! I don't think I'd let 2 six year olds have it unless you have lots of energy yourself!!!

I think I'd err on the side of caution....we do Sprite only with our 7 1/2 year old. I don't think it would hurt them, per se, but I can't imagine it would be a good idea either. Good luck!

Nope, unless you're into the whole bouncing off the wall thing LOL, I wouldn't let them share it either! It's some wicked, wicked stuff.

ginseng, taurine, guarana,

This stuff I know - and it's good - and fine. But Mountain Dew is HUGELY caffeinated unless you're in Canada, and I don't even know what the other stuff is ROFL. I think maybe a special trip to a convenience store and let them pick out a different drink. We often let our boys have Vitamin water (no sodas except Sprite here, either). But that would still give them something special if Mom decides that this one might be a little too racey

Hey Darcy,

Just curious on what you said here, Mountain Dew is HUGELY caffeinated unless you're in Canada
Does it have a lot less here in Canada? I don't drink it just curious.

Oh yeah I wouldn't let them have it either. My kids have enough energy without any help!

Of course I'd feel bad and take them back in to get something different....
