Political Families: Who REALLY raises the kid(s)?

As a working Mom, I felt like I worked the second and midnight shift at home and the first shift in the workplace during DS's life. However, raising DH's biological son (not mine biologically-he's technically my stepson) was a choice I made. I deeply felt the potential of this special needs child. I chose not to climb the career ladder to have flexibility while DH climbed the career ladder. If I or DH were elected a high ranking political position, who would REALLY raise DS since both parents would work long hours? Is there a time management, quality of care secret I don't know about?
