Default Camera Recommendations?

I've searched the threads and there hasn't been anything posted recently.

What's the best point and shoot camera out there? I really don't want to break the bank, but do want some great pictures!

TIA!!!

I've always used Sony P&S cameras and have never been disappointed with them. They don't have the particular model I have (it's 4 years old) but this one is the newest generation of it: http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/sto...52921666297852 I've been thinking of upgrading to it.

We just got my dad this one for Christmas: http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/sto...52921666290110 and he really seems to like it.

When I don't want to lug around my big Canon and lenses I depend on my Canon Powershot D10. It's waterproof to 33 ft., shockproof and takes fabulous photos. I love that I can take it to the beach, lake or waterpark and not worry about it being ruined. The best deal is at Amazon, $249.00

I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V. Also, a Nikon Coolpix S8100. They both take good photos. The Nikon is great for macro and the Sony works well for distances. If you can save up, it's best to get a DSLR for less noise and better sensors. I'd love to purchase one of those, myself!
