Warm Topics?

Did Hot Topics implode? Granted, it got a bit...fanatical in some regards, but did it die an unnatural death? I thought for certain when the republican nomination process began, there would be something posted. Nope nothing but crickets chirping.

Granted, I have been away from the action, but that was because I was concentrating on my husband's illness, and then subsequent passing in December. It was a long process, and I am only now in the last month or so, really coming back to 'normal'.

When I started coming back to HT, it was as it is now. As heated as it got at times, it was much tamer than many other sites. I hope we can come back and have intelligent and thought provoking conversations on the issues.

I think most people just quit coming because a few participants were more interested in attacking other than discussing the topic at hand. I know I miss it.

Thanks for the condolences, ladies. Tammy, you gave me a good laugh. My daughter and I used to watch that show on Discovery (I think it was called Sister Wives). And we both agreed I would be the 'inappropriate' sister wife. The multi husband comment made it come to mind.

Audy, I'm so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. I'm hoping for strength and comfort for you and your family.

I've posted a few things but gave up after a while since no one ever responded. I suppose I can infer from that that I'm one of those mentioned above. If so, I'm truly sorry, and I'll bow out so the rest of you can continue.

For the most part, I always enjoyed out conversations here and have learned a huge amount about other points of view. But I also know that I eventually struck back after feeling personally attacked.

Jamie, I didn't have anyone in mind. I've been silent cause FPD takes up most of my time.

Jamie, I never saw you as dogmatic or inflexible. Sometimes I would get a bit vehement over a sticky point, usually one that affected me directly and would sometimes become triggered by comments that seemed thoughtless or flippant. When that happened with me, I tried to stay less reactive but it is not always easy...we are all, if nothing, works in progress. And thank you for the condolences.
