Default Have you met other digiscrappers IRL? Share your thoughts!

I've just posted on the DST blog about my experience at a recent digital scrapbooking retreat and included an interview with the event's organizer.
Have you ever gone to a digital-scrapbooking retreat or met some of your digital-scrapbooking friends in real life? Share your thoughts and experiences in this thread!

I never went to a big get-together. I just happened, once, to meet one scrapbooker from this very forum, as i was in a town near her. We live in the same province, and i had an opportunity to have a short meeting with Lucie G. It was fun and we also could speak French to each other!

I've never been to a digiscrap retreat, but I would LOVE to go!
I have met about 6 or 7 online friends IRL. All but one were in Utah, where I went to visit family, and arranged to meet some on three different occasions. The other was in San Diego where one of my dear online friends lives. I went there for ComicCon, and we met for lunch.

I had a couple of experiences where I found out I had met the digiscrapper without even knowing it! One is the daughter of my SIL's sister... I had met her several times when she was a young girl. She's active on 2Ps, and she was looking at one of my LOs and spotted her cousin (My brother & SIL's son) and put two and two together. We laughed a long time over that one! We haven't 'met' since that time, she lives on the East Coast, I on the West Coast.
The other was a little closer to home. I was just getting into digiscrapping, and had been posting LOs on a website for a year or so, and was getting acquainted with the other regulars. There was one woman who took outstanding photos of her children, and I loved her clean, graphic scrapping style. One layout she posted, I noticed her beautiful strawberry blonde daughter, and thought she looked an awful lot like a little girl in our church children's organization- (I was the music leader working with the children). Then she posted a layout about her Dad's birthday, and I knew him right away! Turns out she and her family had just moved back to her hometown (near her parents, whom I knew well), I had seen her a few times, but had no idea she was that talented scrapper until I saw her 'Dad' layout. I never knew her growing up, she was already out of high school when we moved to town. I knew her younger siblings, because they were the same ages as my kids. So funny!

Yes, actually this past May a whole big group of us ladies went to the Stuff to Scrap Digi Scrapilicious retreat in Schaumburg, Illinois outside of Chicago. We had a BLAST. I finally got to meet some of the designers I CT for and four of us are very close friends now. Two of the designers actually design together as partners (AmyDane Designs), but had never met in person. This was their first time! 4 of us all shared a big hotel room and it was like we were all in high school or something. We laughed and shared stories about being moms and wives and bonded.

We all plan on attending the Scraps N' Pieces retreat this October in Las Vegas. Can't wait!

There are actually a few digiscrappers that live near me, Jenn White being one of them. About four of us take off to the mountains a couple times a year to just scrap and watch chick flicks! Its the best!!!

I do Perth, WA live workshops. http://www.digitalscrapbookinghq.com...rth-workshops/

A lot of the ladies aren't 'online' scrappers so although I've met about 20 Perth scrappers, it's not like I've met many of the names from here We do have fun though!

I guess that's the thing about being in Australia though!

How do you hear about scrap retreats? Maybe I just don't read the right discussion boards! Hook me up if you hear about any in Southern California!

Um, yes, I have! I've been lucky enough to meet up with Stef a few times, although we didn't scrap... just talked. And ate.

I've met quite a few digi designers and digi scrappers, and I know I would miss some if I tried to name them all.

Stef, next time you're in Utah, let me know. I think we'll be starting up a regular thing, so chances are good that one of your visits will have just the right timing!

Actually, I am traveling to South Africa this fall (71 days & counting) and will be spending a month with Kim (KimB's Designs), Gaye (GS Creations) and Jenni (Chaos Lounge). I'm so excited I can barely stand it!
