Smash cake help!

My daughter turns one tomorrow. I have the cutest 10 inch cake made for her. I want to take smash cake photos, but am worried that it wont look good with such a cute cake. Should I use a cupcake instead? Can I take a pic of her with the whole cake, then smash a small piece? ANy suggestions for angles etc? Coudl someone post pics so I can see how they are taken? thanks for any help! I have been dying to do this for 6 months now!
